LCR Meters

An LCR tester is used to perform dielectric tests of Inductance (L), Capacitance (C), and Resistance (R); they do far more than a simple capacitance meter. We currently stock Extech component LCR testers and accessories such as the Extech LCR205 SMD Component Fixture.

A dielectric breakdown test is used to check that older electrical components have not degraded to the point where electric shock has now become a potential risk for human operators. We have the high voltage LCR meters you need for this job.

Although all manufacturers of electrical components are expected to perform a dielectric test on their components, can you always be sure that this really meets the demands of your insulation.  A dielectric withstand test, sometimes called a hipot test, will test for gaps or flaws that occur due to environmental conditions such as dust, vibration and humidity.

The Extech LCR200 Passive Component LCR Meter comes complete with test leads, carry case, auto power-off, auto select measurement function and a number of other attractive features.

You will find that LCR metering is now used to test far more than resistors, capacitors and inductors.  It is now common to check the electrical character of powders, gases, chemicals and other dielectric materials.  It is also possible to use them to test the dielectric strength of devices such as external cardiac defibrillators.
