BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester (80kV)

The BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester is a compact cable diagnostics and testing tool with negative polarity and maximum voltage output of 80kV. It can be used to test paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables and electrical equipment in medium-voltage networks.

The BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester conducts voltage measurements directly at high-voltage outputs. It can perform voltage tests on electrical equipment in accordance with IEEE 62.2 and IEEE 95, as well as cable sheath tests in compliance with IEC 60502/ IEC 60229 and VDE DIN 0276-620/621, and on-site tests on paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables according to IEEE 400-2012 and IEC 60060-3.

The BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester will provide a continuous and adjustable voltage output and is equipped with a negative voltage range of 0 to 80kV. It utilises a high-voltage transformer and secondary voltage-multiplier to generate voltages.

To facilitate sensitive current measurements, the BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester includes an internal ammeter with six ranges spanning 1µA to 100mA. The BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester can ascertain extremely small insulation currents enabling the determination of insulation resistance up to the tera-ohm range.

In addition to this, the BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester can be used with an OPTIONAL external curve tracer to record current in relation to time.

Test periods can be set between 1 minute and 30 minutes using the BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester’s integrated timer. When the test period has elapsed the BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester will automatically switch-off the high-voltage output and will trigger its built-in discharge unit (a clear switching noise can be heard). The integrated discharge unit operates independently of the BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester ensuring that it remains operational in the event of a power failure. The discharge resistance is designed for maximum discharge energy of 8000J.

The BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester, which has been designed to be short-circuit-proof, includes a number of safety features such as connections for an emergency off unit, an external door contact and signal lamps. All the connection elements and cables are contained within its robust casing and the BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester’s safety unit has been designed to comply with EN 50191.

In addition to durability and safety, the BAUR PGK80E DC High Voltage Tester has been designed for practicality and convenience. To ensure its dimensions are kept to a minimum it is equipped with a 20kHz operating frequency; to enable easy transportation across and between worksites it includes a carrying handle and strap.
