  1. NHS approves Martindale Standard Tester

    The Martindale VI137002 voltage tester has been approved by the NHS as a standard tester for its Estates and Facilities Division, according to Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 06-02: Electrical safety guidance for low voltage systems. The document’s purpose is to encourage best practice guidance for the safe systems of work and safety procedures for operation and management of low voltage AC electrical installations up to 1,000V in healthcare premises.  Continue reading →
  2. Suspended Sentence for Illegal Gas Fitter

    A Suffolk plumber has been given a suspended prison sentence after carrying out illegal and dangerous gas work at a home in Lowestoft. Barry Goodge, 59, from Oulton Broad, attempted to repair a faulty boiler at a home on London Road South on 28 June 2013, despite not being registered with Gas Safe – a legal requirement in the UK.     Three-phase power quality analysis has never been more affordable with the launch of the Fluke 1730 energy logger, which is 25 percent cheaper than earlier models. Three-phase AC electrical supply has a number of advantages over single-phase as the phase currents cancel each other out, allowing reduced neutral wire size in the case of star wiring or to eliminate it altogether in the case of delta wiring.
