With the Chauvin Arnoux CA871, there's no need to directly touch a surface to measure temperature.
An infrared thermometer, the CA871 includes a built-in laser sight for precise targeting of the part of a surface you want to measure. The distance-to-target ratio of the thermometer is 8 to 1, meaning you should stand around 8 inches from the target point for a 1 inch surface target.
Although the entry level in Chauvin Arnoux's infrared thermometer series, the CA871 can still measure temperature across an extremely wide range from -40 to 538°C with high accuracy of ±2.5% (±2°C). Temperature can be switched between Celsius and Fahrenheit with a simple button press.
The Chauvin Arnoux CA871's pistol-shaped design makes it comfortable to hold and use. Positioning the targeting laser is also simple; squeeze the trigger to activate the laser, set up the target point and the thermometer will display the results on its built-in backlit LCD screen (ideal for use in poor lighting conditions).
