About the FLIR Aerial First Responder Drone

Designed for use by professional firefighters, law enforcement and security professionals or for use in search and rescue applications, the FLIR Aerial First Responder Drone kit lets you take to the skies to see the world in thermal.

Controlled via a dedicated controller and iPad from the ground, the First Responder kit can be used for a wide variety of tasks ranging from studying building structures to plot the best way to tackle a fire to detecting the body heat of stranded people in need of rescue.

Everything you need is included in the pack as standard; see below for a more comprehensive breakdown of the capabilities of this powerful thermal drone package.

What's Different for the 'Kit R' Version?

You will notice that this version of FLIR's Aerial First Responder thermal drone is named 'Kit R'.

The R in the title stands for radiometric - while the other kits (basic/advanced) can display thermal images, they don't give users the ability to actually hone in on specific pixels in the image to read temperature data. The Kit R version does include this ability, enhancing your analysis abilities significantly.

Here's a full breakdown of what's different in the Kit R version of this drone:

  • Enhanced Thermal Resolution - this drone has thermal resolution of 640 x 512 pixels, a vast improvement on the basic kit's 336 x 256 pixel thermal detector
  • Higher Temperature Accuracy - while the basic kit has temperature accuracy within ±20°C, the Kit R version has superior accuracy within ±5°C
  • Expanded Temperature Range - this drone can measure temperature from -25 to 135°C (high gain) or from -40 to 550°C (low gain)
  • Fully Radiometric - temperatures can be measured and analysed in the full image, rather than just the centre spot like on the advanced version

The items included with the drone are also slightly different; the Kit R version comes with even more accessories than the basic/advanced kits do (see the 'What's Included?' section below for a detailed breakdown of included items).

Enhanced Zenmuse XT Thermal Camera

With the power of FLIR's uniquely designed Zenmuse XT thermal camera, you'll be able to get high quality full thermal analysis from the air.

The camera seamlessly attaches to the DJI Inspire drone via the included gimbal system, giving you full, 360° control of your footage while in the air. Real-time footage is transmitted back to the included iPads, allowing you to make quick decisions and direct your team as needed.

Precision Control with the Inspire 1 Drone

Whether you're using the included visual camera or the included FLIR Zenmuse XT thermal camera, DJI's Inspire 1 drone will help you to see what you need to see and gives you precision control over your aerial surveys.

This powerful, easy-to-use drone seamlessly works with the included controller, iPad and the DJI Go app to provide you with real-time video footage of what the drone sees, while also giving you complete control over the drone's functionality.

The Inspire 1 is packed with functionality, including:

  • Aerodynamic, transforming design - powerful carbon fiber arms give you the ability to move through the air with ease and they move out of the way of the camera with the flick of a switch
  • Fully 360° field of view - control the camera's rotation directly using the controller or iPad hooked up to the DJI GO app
