Image and Video Capture

PLEASE NOTE that compatible cameras and gimbals are SOLD SEPERATLY. The DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone is compatible with the X4S and X5S gimbals and cameras.

The DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone includes an integrated CineCore 2.0 image processing system. This system is built into the quadcopter’s nose and works with the X4S and X5S gimbals and cameras to capture 5.2K footage in CinemaDNG, Apple ProRes and a range of other post-production filmmaking formats. In addition to this, the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone can also be used to capture videos in 4K at 60fps.

Additionally, the X4S and X5S cameras work with the Inspire 2 Quadcopter to capture JPEG, DNG and JPEG+DNG stills in high resolution.

Video Transmission

As a result of its improved DJI Lightbridge technology, the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone can stream 1080p/720p footage from the main camera, as well as the footage from the onboard FPV camera to both the pilot and camera operator. It has a maximum transmission distance of 4.3miles (7km), provided the route to the receiving instrument is unobstructed and free of interference. In order to ensure the transmission route is free of noise the user is able to select between two transmission frequencies: 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz.**

This dual streaming feature is particularly useful when coordinating shots, as is the wireless transmission of HD video between controllers.  This function allows clear HD video information to be sent from the primary (master) controller to the secondary (slave) controller over a distance of up to 100m.

In addition to this, the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone is suitable for broadcasting applications. It includes two transmission frequencies, 1080i50 and 720p60, reserved for this purpose. Moreover, the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone’s remote controller need only be attached to a satellite truck in order to facilitate the streaming of footage directly to TV.

**5.8GHz not available in some regions due to local regulations.

Intelligent Flight

Not only does the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone include photography and streaming features designed to make professional aerial photography and/or filmmaking applications easier, it also features a number of intelligent flight modes also optimised for this purpose.

The intelligent flight modes available on this model are:

  • Tapfly mode: after setting the drone to FPV view the user need only tap a point on their screen in order to send the drone in that direction. This mode allows the pilot to focus on camera control via manoeuvring the gimbal.
  • ActiveTrack mode: allows the user to track subjects precisely and accurately. The quadcopter can be programmed to recognise objects such as individuals, bikes, cars, boats, etc. When tracking these subjects the user can adjust the tracking profile to suit the subject.
  • Quickspin: quickly turns the quadcopter 360° allowing the gimbal's pan axis to unwind.

Tapfly and ActiveTrack modes allow the user to implement the Spotlight Pro function. This feature allows the user to lock onto a subject without altering the aircraft’s flight path, allowing the pilot to control both the camera and the flight of the drone.

Spotlight Pro

Utilising advanced tracking algorithms the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone can be flown in any direction whilst still maintaining visuals on a selected subject. The DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone will ensure that the gimbal is not over-rotated when in the Spotlight Pro mode, turning itself when it reaches the rotation limit. The Spotlight Pro function can be used in two ways:

  • Quick mode: the user selects a subject to be tracked.
  • Composite mode: the user selects the subject and a tracking position. He/she then presses the shortcut in order to begin tracking when the subject enters the tracking position.

Flight Performance

The DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone has been optimised to be as fast and agile as possible, ensuring that it is capable of performing complex manoeuvres, as well as making it suitable for flight in adverse weather conditions.

Its propulsion system provides the drone with a maximum speed of 58mph (94kph) and a quick, five-second acceleration from 0 to 50 mph (80kph). The Inspire 2 is able to ascend at a speed of 6m/s and can reach heights of 2500-5000m above sea level (ONLY with optional, dedicated propellers); it is also able to descend at 9m/s.

The remote controller ensures that the drone can be finely manoeuvred and flown at a maximum attitude angle of 40°, whilst its self-heating intelligent flight batteries ensure that they, and by extension the drone, remain operational in low temperatures, e.g. as low as 4°F / -20°C.

Smart Return to Home

Making use of its forward and downward facing vision system, as well as its intelligent flight capabilities, the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone can create a real-time map of its surroundings. This function ensures that the aircraft can return safely to the location programmed as ‘home’ should the video transmission signal falter.

If the video transmission signal is lost the Smart Return to Home function will activate sending the aircraft back along its original flight path until it regains a signal. Once the signal is regained the quadcopter will continue as the crow flies to the programmed location.

The DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone will utilise its obstacle avoidance system whilst returning ‘home’.  This system facilitates its ability to detect objects up to 200m away within the real-time map, allowing the aircraft to plan a route which avoids any potential collisions.

Obstacle Avoidance

This function remains operational regardless as to which flight mode the Inspire 2 has been set, provided the drone is flying at 25° attitude angle and at a speed of 34mph or below.

The Inspire 2’s obstacle avoidance system utilises the same forward and downward visual sensing system which makes it possible for the drone to ‘return home’, as detailed above.

Its downward sensors are able to detect objects up to 30m ahead of the quadcopter, whilst its upward-facing infrared sensors can identify objects 5m (16ft) above the aircraft. This combination of upward and downward sensors make the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone ideal for use in enclosed as well as open spaces.

Reliability

The obstacle avoidance system adds to the DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone’s reliability, as it works to prevent the possibility of damage to the instrument via a collision. This system is supported by the dual redundancy of IMU and barometer modules: information garnered by these sensors is verified by the Inspire 2’s intelligent flight control system thereby ensuring that the flight data and therefore the real-time map are accurate.

The DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone has also been built to ensure the aircraft can continue to fly should one of it batteries fail, or if the PWM signal is lost. To this end, it includes a dual battery power system. Furthermore, its propulsion system is instructed via a PWM signal with serial port single redundancy, ensuring that transmission to the propulsion system will continue despite any disruption to the PWM signal.

The DJI Inspire 2 Professional Drone is a sophisticated, intelligent quadcopter ideal for a variety of professional applications.
