The Extech HD400 is a digital light meter that can measure light levels both as a footcandle and lux reading.
It also features extremely large measurement range and performs footcandle measurements across four ranges of 40, 400, 4000 and 40000FC and lux measurements across four ranges of 400, 4000, 40000 and 400000 lux with basic accuracy of ±5% rdg and max resolution of 0.01Fc/0.1lux.
The HD400 uses a precision silicon photo diode and spectral response filter to maintain measurement accuracy. The sensor of the device is connected to the unit via a 3ft (1m) cable to allow the user to easily position the sensor where it can get the best reading.
In addition to standard light measurements the HD400 also includes a few extra functions such as peak mode to capture the highest reading taken, MIN/MAX, data hold and 40-segment bargraph display.
Another version of the HD400 - the HD450 - is also available. This device does everything that the HD400 does but also includes datalogging functions for storing up to 16000 readings directly on the device.
|FC Range||40, 400, 4000, 40000FC|

Meter functions OK but the PC interface doesn't output data with the correct time stamp. It seems to just go as fast as it can and label each reading at the theoretical rate (i,e, if you set 1 second updates it will time stamp readings every second. Except they are actually taken every 3-5 seconds!). There is no decode of the serial data so you're stuck with it. Extech - please publish the data format!
