The FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras are the first mounted IR imagers optimised for use with aerial firefighting apparatus. They can be used to see through darkness and thick smoke from an aerial perspective to facilitate quicker, more effective firefighting operations.

The FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras for Aerial Firefighting Apparatus are available in four models with different mounting designs and temperature measurement units; please see the table below for further details.

The FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras support PAL video systems (commonly used across Western Europe and parts of Africa, Asia and Australia) and so have a frame rate of 25Hz. Please note that 30Hz, NTSC cameras are available here.

In addition to a 25Hz frame rate, the FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras also include a 640 x 480-pixel IR detector, 69° x 56° field-of-view and the following temperature ranges (°F scales OR °C scales ONLY – model dependent, see table above):

  • High-gain: -25°C to 135°C / -13°F to 275°F
  • Low-gain: 0°C to 550°C / 32°F to 1022°F

Further to this, the FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras are equipped with a Flexible Scene Enhancement (FSX™) function. FSX™ can be used to determine the structural layout of the scene and guide firefighters through operations as it improves the detail and visibility of thermal images. Moreover, these IR imagers can be used to determine the hottest spots of a fire; data that could prove useful when determining the most strategic course of action.

Additionally, as the FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras can be mounted to the top or bottom of aerial platforms and ladder buckets (model dependent, see table above) or may be attached to the end of straight sticks, thereby offering teams of firefighters a vital aerial perspective. The FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras allow firefighting teams to view rooftops and upper stories as well as other tall structures, again facilitating comprehensive and more strategically direct firefighting.

These FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras are supplied with a single cable with a MIL-C connector that provides 10-32 VDC in and composite video out. This cable also improves the ease with which the FLIR KF6 640 PAL Thermal Cameras can be installed.
