The FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera is a high-resolution thermal camera equipped with a Screen-EST mode specifically designed for detecting persons with above-average skin temperature.

Above-average skin temperature can be indicative of a fever which is a common symptom of many illnesses. It is important to note that the FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera CANNOT be used to diagnose or identify illnesses. It can be used alongside other body-temperature screening tools to identify those who may need to self-isolate and/or undergo further medical testing and has been US FDA approved for this purpose. The FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera serves as an easy-to-use, efficient and effective preliminary precaution for preventing the potential spread of infection in public and professional places.

Thermal Imaging

The FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera has an infrared resolution of 640 x 480px. This provides the user with a clear thermal image allowing him/her to see the subject’s (the persons being screened) heat distribution at a glance.

The FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera can be purchased with either a 24° lens or 42° lens. As a result, these two models differ in regards to their fields-of-view and their thermal sensitivity; please see the table below for further information.

Screen-EST Mode

The Screen-EST mode facilitates fast and accurate temperature screening. It measures the subject’s skin temperature and compares it to the average skin temperature plus the user-specified tolerance, e.g. 36°C +1°C. If the subject’s temperature is within this range a clear PASS indication is visible on the FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera’s bright display. However, if the subject's skin temperature exceeds the upper limit a FAIL indicator is shown and an audible alarm is triggered. Persons who trigger these alerts MUST have their temperature verified using a body thermometer.

The FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera is equipped with ambient drift compensation to ensure that PASS/ FAIL results are reliable. The average skin temperature is calculated accumulatively using the subjects’ skin temperatures; this accounts for changing ambient conditions that occur naturally throughout the day. The user can update the average skin temperature manually; the FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera includes a Bluetooth-enabled remote operation button to facilitate manual updating of the average from a safe distance. Alternatively, the FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera can be set update the average automatically.

When the Screen-EST mode is engaged, the FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera is able to measure temperatures between 15°C and 45°C to an accuracy of ±0.3°C. This mode also provides a visual positioning guide to ensure reliable and consistent measurements. Non-contact temperature measurement and screening allows all parties to maintain safe social distancing.

The Screen-EST mode does not store personal information or thermal images nor does it display identifying features. This protects the subjects’ privacy.

FLIR Screen-EST Desktop Software

When used with FLIR’s Screen-EST Desktop Software (NOT included), an external power source, and video connection, the FLIR T560-EST Handheld Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera can be used to set up a permanent screening station. It includes an integrated tripod mount for connection to a tripod enabling hands-free operation.

The FLIR Screen-EST Desktop Software will automatically begin screening upon detection of a human face. Depending on the subject’s skin temperature, a PASS or FAIL indicator is displayed on the connected monitor. Subjects can also view the screening process on the monitor which provides peace of mind.
