FLIR Zenmuse XT Drone Thermal Camera w / 6.8mm Lens Details

Important Note On Purchasing the Zenmuse XT Camera

There are 4 different versions of the Zenmuse XT camera available.

Using the dropdown box above, you can select which frame rate you'd like for the camera (9Hz or 30Hz*) and also choose between standard and 'Kit R' versions of the camera.

The 'Kit R' refers to the camera being radiometric - with this mode included, you can isolate and measure temperature from any point on captured thermal images and video, as well as get higher accuracy when measuring temperature.

  • *Due to restrictions on frame rate for thermal cameras, we may be unable to supply you with the 30Hz version of this camera, depending on your application. Please contact our sales team directly for more information on this process.

What is the Zenmuse XT Thermal Drone Camera?

Specifically designed for DJI drones (see below for more on compatibility) and precision made by FLIR, the world's leading thermal camera manufacturers, the Zenmuse XT will help you to unlock the possibilities of sight.

Combining together unmatched gimbal drone technology with FLIR's industry-leading thermal capabilities, the Zenmuse XT provides the ultimate solution for airborne thermal imaging.

With the Zenmuse XT and a DJI drone you'll be able to capture faster with exceptional levels of precision, even when working in large areas.

The following video provides an excellent introduction to the Zenmuse XT thermal camera

Zenmuse XT - The Important Specs

With excellent thermal resolution, high levels of thermal sensitivity and packed with functionality, the Zenmuse XT is unmatched by other thermal camera systems on the market.

Designed to seamlessly integrate into DJI drone systems, you can control the camera completely using the unique gimbal system, offering full, 360° high quality thermography from the skies.

Here's all the important specs you need to know about FLIR's Zenmuse XT thermal camera.

Zenmuse XT Specs
Thermal Resolution - The quality of images captured using the camera 336 x 256 pixels
Frame Rate - the rate at which the camera displays video. The higher the frame rate, the smoother the image 9Hz and 30Hz versions both available
Thermal Sensitivity - the ability of the camera to adjust itself to different temperatures <50mK at f/1.0
Pixel Pitch - the lower the value, the higher quality the image 17μm
Thermal Imager Type Uncooled VOx Microbolometer
Photo Formats JPEG (8 bit) and TIFF (14 bit)
Video Format MP4
Digital Zoom 2x, 4x and 8x
Lens 6.8mm lens (45 x 35°)

What's Different for the 'Kit R' (Radiometric) Version?

If you choose the 'Kit R' version of the Zenmuse XT when ordering, you'll gain a variety of extra features not included on the standard model.

The most beneifical of these is fully radiometric imagery; with this, you can hone in a specific point of the thermal image and get a precise, reliable temperature reading from that point.

Here's what's included in the Kit R model

  • Twice the measurement accuracy - even more reliable results
  • Tap any point on an image to view the temperature of that point
  • Select an area to measure the average, highest and lowest temperatures, plus location
  • Calibratable - set external parameters including background temperature, scene emissivity and more
  • Capture in TIFF format to assign every pixel of an image a temperature reading
  • Set a temperature alert threshold which will automatically activate when a set temperature is detected

Applications for the Zenmuse XT Thermal Drone Camera

With drone and thermal technology, performing complex, time-wasting inspections is a thing of the past. Use the Zenmuse XT for a wide variety of different applications, including:

Power Line Inspections
Fly at a safe distance from power lines and spot overheating parts and problems without extensive diagnostics
Solar Panel Inspections
Detect how efficient your solar panels are and detect any panels which aren't working exactly as they should be
Search and Rescue
Your eye in the sky - spot the body heat of people and animals through weather conditions, complete darkness and even sparse foliage
Precision Agriculture
Keep an eye on your yield from the skies and spot thermal issues with your crops
Perform an entire aerial inspection of a burning or damaged property/scene, helping you to plot the best course of action

Control Entirely with the DJI Go App

With the DJI GO app, you can take full control over the drone system and control the thermal camera using a smartphone or tablet.

Functions include:

  • Spot metering, temperature measurement at the mid-point
  • Digital zoom
  • Single or interval shooting modes
  • Photo, video preview and download
  • Take photos while recording video
  • Various camera settings and parameters including:
  • - Palette, also referred to as Look-up Table (LUT)
  • Scene, also referred to as Automatic Gain Correction (AGC)
  • Region of Interest (ROI)
  • Isotherm mode

Drone Compatibility

This camera and its stabilising gimbal can be attached to DJI's Inspire 1 and Matrice 100 aircraft.

The gimbal system is designed to seamlessly integrate into these drones. When in the air, you can use the powerful DJI Lightbridge system to transfer live images and videos to a control point (included with the drones) from up to 3.1 miles away!

When attached to the drones, the equipped gimbal system gives the camera completely smooth, clear imagery and gives the user full 360 degrees of seamless rotational movement.

What's In the Kit?

  • FLIR Zenmuse XT Thermal Camera (13mm Lens)
  • Stabilised Gimbal
  • Copy of FLIR Tools+ Software

Note: this camera is also available with 13mm or 19mm lenses.
