The Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester can be used to troubleshoot electrical systems. It is the most sophisticated model in Fluke 1660 series of multifunction installation testers.
It features the following testing capabilities:
This instrument includes a high-current loop mode with a non-trip mode for RCDs facilitating quicker measurements than loop tests. The Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester also includes variable test voltages ranging from 50V to 1000V and is supplied with a zero adapter designed to ensure accurate measurements by accommodating for resistance present in test leads and mains cords. This instrument also supports self-testing, ensuring that it remains functional and reliable.
Moreover, the Fluke 1664 FC features an automatic RCD test sequence, an on/off switchable automatic start for RCD and loop tests, as well as an AutoTest function. The AutoTest function is unique to the 1664 FC model in Fluke’s 1660 range of multifunction installation testers and allows the user to increase testing efficiency, accuracy and reliability.
The AutoTest function is a sequence of five mandatory installation tests, including a choice of a type-A, type-AC or RCD autotest, ensuring that the user is able to maintain compliance with installation regulations. This function reduces the test time by up to 40% (compared to previous Fluke models) and decreases the number of required manual connections, as well as the possibility of errors.
Another feature unique to the 1664 FC model is its Insulation Pre-test. The function facilitates the Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester’s ability to identify whether appliances are connected to the system-under-investigation. If one such appliance is detected, the Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester will halt testing and alert the user to the presence of an appliance via a visual and audible warning. This prevents potential damage to the appliance, the 1664 FC tester and the user.
Furthermore, this instrument is able to detect raised earth voltages (>50V) via the Earth Volt TouchPad. This allows the user to identify potentially dangerous situations, again working to prevent any potential harm to the system, 1664 FC tester, or user.
Measurements acquired by the Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester are indicated on its large, backlit display with a wide viewing angle and clear symbols. When measuring PEFC or PSC and loop impedance in parallel, these measurements are indicated on the dual display simultaneously. Further to this, data can be saved to the tester’s onboard, three-layer memory. Loop tests are saved to the instrument’s Z-max memory which allows the user to evaluate the highest loop test value.
Measurements can be transferred to the user’s PC via the IR-USB/BLE interface and the included free DMS Software (see below). Once downloaded, the data can be organised into reports, exported and/or printed. Alternatively, the wireless capabilities of the Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester, allow the user to upload information to the Fluke Cloud where it can be accessed by multiple authorised individuals thereby facilitating collaborative decisions. Data saved to the Fluke Cloud can be accessed at any time from anywhere (via an internet-enabled device) and can be imported to the user’s PC for further analysis using the free Fluke DMS software.
Moreover, measurements can be sent wirelessly to a compatible smartphone via the Fluke Connect App, again facilitating faster, collaborative, real-time decisions as all individuals can access the measurements from any location at any time via their smartphones or tablets.
In addition to its extensive measurement, storage and communication capabilities, the Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester has also been ergonomically designed to ensure ease-of-operation. Physically it is lightweight, compact and supplied with a padded neck strap to allow for hands-free usage. It features a rotary dial knob that allows the user to see clearly which function is currently engaged. Moreover, the Fluke 1664 FC Multifunction Installation Tester includes an easy-to-navigate user interface without complicated multi-level menus. It also supports ring testing which removes the need for exchanging test leads as the user can select the required input sockets using the tester’s soft keys.
