The Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester – Extended Range can be used to calibrate pressure sensing instruments such as transducers, transmitters, gauges and sensors as well as other pressure calibrators. This tester differs from its sister product, the Fluke 6531-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester, in that it includes two high-precision quartz reference pressure transducers (with ranges from 7MPa/ 1000 psi to 200 MPA/ 30 000 psi) to which the reference pressure monitor can be configured, giving it an extended range and a percent of reading performance of 1% to 100% of device full scale.

The Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester – Extended Range is available in three models with various pressure ranges; please see the table below for further details.

Product Code Product Name  Pressure Ranges High-precision Quartz Reference Pressure Transducers
6532-70M Fluke 6532-70M Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester  Extended Range - 70MPa (10K psi) 0.7 to 70 MPa, 100 to 10,000 psi A70M/ A7M
6532-140M Fluke 6532-140M Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester Extended Range - 140MPa (20K psi) 1.4 to 140 MPa, 200 to 20,000 psi A140M / A14M
6532-200M-B Fluke 6532-200M-B Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester Extended Range - 200MPa (30K psi) 4 to 200 MPa, 600 to 30,000 psi A200M/ A20M

Like its sister product, this instrument includes features and functions designed to improve the efficiency and safety with which calibrations may be performed. One such feature is the AutoRange function, this function will tailor the tester’s measurement and safety settings to the instrument-under-investigation. Moreover, as the extended range model includes two high-precision quartz reference pressure transducers (Q-RPTs), the AutoRange feature will also ensure that the most appropriate Q-RPT is selected. A half-turn valve is used to protect the low range Q-RPT when the high-range module is in use. A visual and audible indicator alerts the user as to when the valve is correctly closed.

Also adding to the safety of calibration procedures is the over-pressure alarm, whilst the AutoTest function and Ready/Not Ready indicator add to the precision and efficiency of this process. The AutoTest function allows the user to program tests for the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester to perform automatically. The Ready/ Not Ready indicator alerts the user as to when it is suitable to take measurements.

Data acquired using this tester can be saved to the onboard memory. Measurements may also be transferred to a computer featuring Fluke’s COMPASS Pressure Software (NOT included) via the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester’s RS-232 interface, allowing the user to view data in real-time and create reports.

Additionally, the RS-232 interface may be used to operate the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester’s reference pressure monitor remotely via a computer and using ASCII character command strings. Alternatively, the reference pressure monitor can be configured via the tester’s front panel display and keyboard or using an OPTIONAL foot pedal which also facilitates the user’s ability to perform hands-free data collection while the instrument performs AutoTest sequences.

These features and functions make the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester a viable, practical, easy-to-use alternative to traditional deadweight testers. It has many advantages over traditional testers including:

  • It can be used to perform calibrations in a variety of measurement units
  • It is suitable for calibrating analogue pressure gauges as minimal pressure increments are not restricted by the smallest masses available. This allows the user to set, test and measure precise nominal pressure values.
  • Not susceptible to significant errors caused by vibrations
  • Changing of the piston and cylinder is not required
  • Variables such as gravity and temperature do not need to be accounted for, allowing accurate pressure values to be read in real-time
  • Weight masses are not required

Furthermore, the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester can be used with a variety of fluids including Sebacate calibration fluid, mineral oil and water.  It is also able to match the accuracy of traditional deadweight testers as it has a total one-year measurement uncertainty of ±0.02% (±0.025% for two years).

It is equipped with a low torque variable volume which allows the user to create and make fine adjustments to hydraulic pressures up to 200MPa. This is a simple-to-use module that requires minimal physical effort. In addition to this, a vacuum fill kit is supplied with this tester allowing the user to fill the system with the fluid of his/her choice. Its integrated priming-system also ensures that the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester can be filled with the required fluid; it can also be used to purge the system of unwanted air facilitating the accurate creation of hydraulic pressures.

Additionally, the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is supplied with a selection of test station adapters including 1/8 in, 1/4 in, 3/8 in and 1/2 in NPT, 1/8 in, 1/4 in, 3/8 in and 1/2 in BSP, M20 x 1.5 and M14 x 1.5. These adapters add to the Fluke 6532-XXX’s practicality and ease-of-use as they facilitate the user’s ability to connected instruments-under-investigation to the tester without the use of PTFE tape and/or wrenches. The Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is NOT supplied with a rechargeable battery; however, it can be powered using one such battery pack allowing the user to adapt the instrument to the application.

The versatility, adaptability and resilience of the Fluke 6532-XXX Electronic Hydraulic Deadweight Tester – Extended Range makes it suitable for applications in a variety of environments including metrology and calibration labs, production floors, and in the field.
