Unlike traditional alignment methods, such as rulers and dial indicators, the Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool offers the operator more than just data. This instrument can be relied upon to perform accurate, complex alignment calculations, the answers to which are displayed on its ‘all-in-one’ results-screen. Via this display, the user can also view vertical and horizontal results for both coupling and feet corrections in real-time. The indication of all these measurements allows the user to take corrective action immediately thereby improving the efficiency, as well as the precision, of machine maintenance.

Further to this, the Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool’s enhanced user interface means that the operator does not require a comprehensive understanding of precision alignment or alignment calculations to interpret the results and make the relevant adjustments. Again, this adds to the efficiency and ease of machine maintenance.

To conduct accurate, reliable readings and calculations, the Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool utilises a patented single laser precision alignment system. Its high-quality brackets ensure that the sensor and prism are kept in place as the shaft is rotated. To conduct accurate checks the user need only perform the following steps:

  • Setup: input the machine’s dimensions using the step-by-step guide
  • Measure: rotate the shaft; measurement verifications will be received instantly
  • Diagnose: alignment or misalignment is indicated by actual corrective numbers as well as a 4-level severity scale

The Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool also includes a Live mode that will continually update the user whilst he/she makes real-time adjustments; thereby removing the need for additional diagnostic tests.

As well as Live mode, the Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool includes a number of other features and functions that improve diagnostic accuracy, efficiency and ease. The Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool includes the following modes:

  • Compass Measurement: activates an electronic inclinometer in order to perform flexible, reliable and repeatable measurements

  • Clock: for use when checking vertical and flanged machines
  • Resume: allows the user to save work and return to the same step at anytime

In addition to the above modes, the Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool also includes a Dynamic Machine Tolerance Check which will continually evaluate alignment adjustments allowing to the user to determine when the machine is within an acceptable range.

Finally, the Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool also includes a Machine Flip to Flip function. When engaged this function will flip the image of the machine; this function is of particular use for alignment jobs with obstructions.
