The Metrel MI3155 Eurotest XD Multifunction Tester is the most advanced multifunction tester currently available from Metrel (as of 2018). This is reflected in its extensive measurement capabilities. It can be used to conduct true-RMS AC/DC current measurements to 299.9A and true-RMS voltage measurements to 550V. It is also able to perform one- and three-phase voltage and frequency measurements and the following tests, checks and functions:
- Four wire test for live transformer impedance measurements
- Hi-precision short-circuit current evaluation with calculated Hot factor
- 3-wire test of PE (RPE function) without an extension lead conductor
- 200 mA DC test with polarity check, when performing continuity tests of PE conductors
- Test PE conductors for continuity without tripping RCDs by using a 7mA test current
- 4-wire continuity test with automatic polarity reversal
- Loop impedance measurements (L-PE) with a trip-lock RCD function and 2-wire or 3-wire test options
- L-L and L-N line impedance measurements, again with 2-wire or 3-wire test options
- L-N, N-PE and L-PE autotest insulation function
- Measure insulation resistance using a DC voltage between 50V and 2500V
- Calculate PI and DAR using the above test
- Test RCDs: suitable for types AC, A, F, B, B+, MI, RCD, EV RCD, PRCD, PRCD-K, PRCD-S
- A frequency range of 16-400Hz allows the user to take loop, line and RCD measurements

Adding to the sophistication of this instrument is the inclusion of several auto test sequences, including sequences for EVSE, RCD and impedance testing. Furthermore, the user may also program customised auto test sequences and can program the instrument to support visual and functional inspections. This information is saved to the Metrel MI3155 Eurotest XD Multifunction Tester’s memory.
This information is both easy to program and recall due to the intuitive, simple-to-use operating system which is easily accessible via the large, colour, touchscreen display. In addition to this, the intuitive operating system makes viewing, evaluating and sorting measurement results easy. It can filter results according to area groups; the integrated help screens aid the user with result evaluation, and the built-in fuse tables automatically evaluate the results of loop and line tests. These features all work to improve the efficiency of operations.
Results gathered by the Metrel MI3155 Eurotest XD Multifunction Tester can be sent to a PC or Android device using the integrated Bluetooth module. Once downloaded to a PC or Android device, the results can be organised into professional reports using either the Metrel ES manager Software or the aMESM Android app.
