The Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars are capable of capturing thermal images and footage, allowing the user to see animal life and human life in dark, nighttime conditions. Their rugged design and Wi-Fi connectivity make them suitable for hunting, search and rescue, and security applications.

Image and Video Capture

The Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars have a thermal detection range of 1800m. They feature a thermal sensor of 17µm with a resolution of 640 x 480-pixels. Images and videos captured using these binoculars can be displayed to a resolution of 640 x 480-pixels. Footage is captured at a frame rate of 50Hz ensuring that it is clear, sharp and in real-time. The integrated sound and video recorder mean that images and footage can be recorded and saved to the onboard, 8GB memory. The integrated memory has the capacity to store up to 150 minutes of footage or 10 000 images. Alternatively, media can be streamed to a smartphone or tablet or to social media via Wi-Fi (see below).

The Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars also includes a number of features and functions which allow the user to adjust the imager as necessary to view the clearest, sharpest, most accurate images and footage relevant to the application. For instance, the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars include a smooth and incremental zoom with a magnification range of 2.5x to 20x. They also feature a Picture-in-Picture mode which allows the user to view a specific area of the primary image in a smaller, secondary box. This allows the user to zoom in on these details without losing the field-of-view of the primary image.

Further to this, videos and images captured using the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars can be viewed in a choice of eight colour palettes, each optimised for different purposes:

  • White Hot – standard colour palette
  • Hot Black- optimised for detecting wildlife/ human targets in nighttime conditions
  • Red Monochrome – prevents the escape of bright back-light from the eyepiece
  • Sepia – for long-range observation
  • Rainbow – enhances temperature differences
  • Ultramarine – enhances temperature differences
  • Red Hot – enhances temperature differences
  • Violet – for identifying objects quickly

Moreover, user-selectable observation modes, City, Forest and Identification, each accommodate for various ambient temperatures, again adding to the ease with which particular tasks can be performed. For instance, the Identification mode is optimised for identifying targets at long distances.

Furthermore, the three calibration modes available on this instrument, Automatic, Semi-Automatic and Manual, allow the user to adjust the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars to reduce the effects of noise, improving the clarity, sharpness and accuracy of thermal media.

Stadiametric Rangefinder

In addition to the above modes and colour palettes, the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars include a Stadiametric Rangefinder which provides the user with information regarding the distance of the target from the binoculars. The Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars are able to calculate this distance based on the size of the target and can provide a distance measurement to the user within a few seconds. This feature helps to facilitate quick decision making.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

Also helping to facilitate quick decision making is the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars' Wi-Fi connectivity. Using the integrated Wi-Fi module and Pulsar’s Stream Vision Software the user is able to wirelessly connect the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars to a smartphone or tablet. Once connected, it is possible to stream thermal videos and photos to the smart instrument. This allows individuals in remote locations to view captured media in real time, facilitating collaborative, almost immediate decisions.

Further to this, it is also possible to stream media to YouTube, Facebook, Skype, Twitter or Viber, as well as upload it to Google Drive or iCloud. Again, this allows multiple individuals to view footage and images in real-time and facilitates collaborative, quick decision making.

Alternatively, the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars' wireless connectivity can be utilised to operate them remotely via a smartphone or tablet. This feature is of particular use to those hunting or performing surveillance tasks as it increases the stealth with which these applications can be performed.

Durability, longevity and Ease-of-Use

The Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars have been optimised for prolonged periods of use and as such include adjustable eyepieces which allow the user to alter the distance between these components. Finally, the Pulsar Accolade XP50 50Hz Thermal Imaging Binoculars are supplied with an IPS5 battery pack capable of providing the thermal imager with up to eight hours of power. This battery pack is easy to remove and replace, allowing the user to recharge it as necessary, thereby reducing downtime.
