The Socket & See VP400 Vehicle Proving Unit can be used to verify the functionality of multimeters, two-pole voltage indicators and non-contact voltage detectors, both before and after use, as stipulated in the Working Practice for Electricians.
This instrument is designed to be permanently wired into and powered by a vehicle’s 12V supply. To ensure a correct connection, the RED (+12V) and BLACK (0V) should be removed from the fused outlet. The Socket & See VP400 Vehicle Proving Unit includes an additional isolating circuit ensuring that it remains safe, even in single fault conditions, whilst providing the same level of operation as other Socket & See Proving Units.
The Socket & See VP400 Vehicle Proving Unit includes an intelligent voltage ramp optimised for checking multimeters and voltage indicators. In addition to this, it includes a non-contact voltage detector test feature and is also powerful enough to check and illuminate old filament style test lamps.
The Socket & See VP400 Vehicle Proving Unit is able to generate voltages between 50 and 690V at 50Hz with a true AC waveform. This capability not only adds to the safety of the Socket & See VP400 Vehicle Proving Unit but also improves its reliability and accuracy as it will always read correctly using the AC range present on the instrument-under-investigation.
Also adding to the safety, reliability and practicality of this instrument is its automatic operation and Auto-off function. This ensures that the Socket & See VP400 Vehicle Proving Unit is both easy-to-use and extends its longevity via conserving battery life.
