The Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser is a compact, comprehensive tester capable of measuring a variety of electrical parameters including transients. The Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser meets the IEC 61000 Class A standard making it suitable for power quality analysis and interference diagnostics in power networks.

The Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser can be used to monitor all network types from 64V to 760V, including DC voltage systems. Additionally, its ease of installation makes it ideal for taking measurements at low voltage poles and its independent power supply makes it suitable for taking measurements behind voltage transformers. It supports the following measurements:

  • Voltages L1, L2, L3, N, PE (five measurement inputs): up to 1000V; the Sonel PQM-703 PQA measures average, minimum, maximum and instant voltage and supports interoperability with voltage transducers
  • Currents L1, L2, L3, N (four measurement inputs): up to 6kA (depending on the current clamp used); the SoneL PQM-703 PQA measures average, minimum, maximum and instant currents and supports interoperability with current transducers
  • Crest factors for current (CFI) and voltage (CFU)
  • Unbalance of voltage and currents
  • Power measurements: active (P), reactive (Q), distortion (D), and apparent (S) with identification of the nature of reactive power (capacitive, inductive)
  • Reactive power is calculated using the Budeanu method and IEEE 1459 method
  • Power factor: cosφ, tanφ
  • Energy measurements: active (EP), reactive (EQ) and apparent (ES)
  • Harmonics up to the 50th in voltage and current
  • Interharmonics (measured as groups)
  • THD: total harmonic distortion for current and voltage
  • K factor: transformer overload caused by harmonics
  • Short-term (PST) and long-term (PLT) light flicker index

Like its sister product, the Sonel PQM-702, the Sonel PQM-703 logs events with oscillograms and records control signals in power networks. However, unlike its sister product, the Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser also includes a transient recorder with a voltage range up to ±8000V and a maximum sampling frequency of 10MHz.

Basic parameters, such as voltage, current and power, are displayed on the Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser’s 320 x 240px, 3.5” LCD. Via the display, the user can also view the PQA’s configuration information, a phasor diagram, and warnings. Moreover, a maximum of 4500 parameters can be logged at intervals of up to 200ms to the Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser’s 8GB memory card. The Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser’s memory can be expanded using an OPTIONAL 32GB memory card.

An integrated GSM modem facilitates the wireless, real-time transfer of data and allows the user to control the Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser remotely from anywhere in the world. Remote operation and data transfer can also be achieved using the included OR-1 radio receiver; however, the OR-1 radio receiver has an operating distance of only 50m.

The Sonel PQM-703 Power Quality Analyser also includes a built-in GPS receiver which provides real-time clock accuracy and supports the Sonel PQM-703’s Anto-Theft function which alerts the user via text message when the position of the unit has been changed.
