Please note that this meter is not suitable for use with RJ11-style plugs unless an optional adapter is used. Using RJ11 plugs will cause damage to the socket if the adaptor is not used.
The smart and safe way to test RJ45 network cabling, the Peak Atlas UTP05 can be used to identify and analyse Cat5, 5e, 6 RJ45-based network cables, sockets and patch panels.
Using highly intelligent software to determine the status of a connected network component, the UTP05 instantly identifies a cable configuration, even if there are faults present. When a cable is connected to the meter, it will analyse the full connection between one end of the cable and the other end. This allows it to instantly identify the cable type, and it can identify many different cable types, including straight-through patch cable, crossover cables, token ring cables, Ethernet economiser/splitter adapter and much more.
After determining the type of connected cable, the user can scroll through the available screens to view detailed information about the cable's status. The UTP05 is capable of clearly identifying problems within the cable's structure, alerting the user to the presence of such things as shorted, swapped or missing connections.
To perform a test using this meter, all it requires is inserting one end of the cable into the meter, another into a supplied terminator and pressing the test button on the front of the analyser. A built-in wiring instruction system also makes it easy to learn how to wire a specific type of network cable, and this analyser is provided with a selection of accessories in a robust carrying case. A kit option is also available with even more accessories included.
