About Inside Micrometers
The inside micrometer precisely measures the inner diameter of objects bonded by walls, cylindrical bores, or hollow pipes. They are available in different designs and sizes for various measurements and can measure by mm or inches and gives precise readings.
The general equipment comprises a measuring head or a micrometer unit, extension rods, a spacer or spacing collar, and a handle. The measuring head consists of a thimble, which has one way marking known as the thimble division (TD) reading. The sleeve or barrel has the main or index scale and sub-scales, and they have two-waymarking, known as MSD (main scale division).
