Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser Description

As mentioned above, the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser included in this kit is fitted with oxygen (O₂), carbon monoxide (CO), nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) sensors. It is capable of measuring the concentration of these gases within the following ranges:

  • O₂: 0 to 25 vol.%
  • CO (H₂ compensated): 0 to 10 000ppm
  • NO: 0 to 4000ppm
  • NO₂: 0 to 500ppm

The Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser is also capable of calculating pressure difference and air flow measurements for mass flow calculations.

The Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser’s multiple gas sensors and extended measuring ranges make it suitable for a variety of applications including industrial flue gas analysis, industrial emissions measurements, verifying the installation of firing plants and energy production systems. It is also suitable for use in international service operations. For further information regarding the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser’s applications please see the ‘Applications’ section.

Contributing to the versatility of this instrument is its extended measuring range which makes it suitable for use in areas with high concentrations of gases. The extended measurement range (thinning) is automatically engaged when high levels of gas are detected; this means that the demands on the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser’s sensors are the same as when the Testo 340 is used in areas with low gas concentrations.

Each of the integrated sensors has been TÜV tested and accuracy checked in accordance with the standard EN 50379 Part 2. These sensors are pre-calibrated ensuring that cells may be changed quickly and easily in the field, adding to the versatility of the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser.

The reliability and functionality of the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser are preserved via the inclusion of an integrated condensation trap and an integrated automatically controlled measurement gas pump. The condensation trap prevents the build-up of concentrate in the gas sensor and will notify the user when the trap requires emptying. The integrated automatic gas pump maintains a constant flow in the event of negative pressure or overpressure between -200 to +50 mbar.

The Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser’s compact and robust design also preserves its longevity and adds to its suitability for industrial environments. The design of the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser enables OPTIONAL probes to be connected quickly and easily allowing the user to adapt the Testo 340 to suit the application. These OPTIONAL probes can be used interchangeably as the probe shaft is attached to the probe handle and then connected to the Testo 340.

When used with Testo’s easyEmissions Software (NOT included), the user is able to create customer-specific and application-specific measurement protocols, again enabling him/her to tailor the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser to suit the application. The Testo easyEmissions Software is designed for reading, editing, archiving and managing data and, when the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser is connected to this software program via a Bluetooth or USB interface, it can be used to perform online measurements. During online measurements, the user is able to view real-time values via his/her PC/ laptop while the measurement is ongoing.

Another advantage of the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser’s Bluetooth capabilities is that it can be operated remotely via the user’s smartphone or tablet with the free Testo App installed. This app can also be used to view data in a graph or table, as well as send information to print via Bluetooth and using a compatible Testo Printer.

It is also possible to send measurements to print via Bluetooth directly from the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser (a compatible Testo Bluetooth Printer is required). Alternatively, data can be sent to print via an infrared interface and using a Testo Infrared Printer.

The Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser is a flexible, durable, reliable gas detector and analyser optimised for industrial applications.

Applications

Flue Gas Analysis for Thermal Manufacturing Processes

The Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser can be used to optimise processes and save fuel. In addition to optimising combustion systems and monitoring processes, the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser can be used for emission control applications, such as verifying that flue gas emissions are within the permissible limits and that emission instruments are functioning correctly.

Service Measurements of Industrial Engines

As this Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser includes sensors for NO and NO₂, it is capable of taking measurements for each of these gases separately allowing the user to determine a correct NOx value. It is possible to view NO and NO₂ values simultaneously along with other gas parameters relevant to industrial engines.

As the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser automatically dilutes the CO sensor when unexpectedly high concentrations of this gas are detected (up to 50 000 ppm), the user is able to measure industrial engines with undefined engine conditions without damaging the sensor.

Finally, as the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser can be used with an array of OPTIONAL, highly heat-resistant, interchangeable probes, it can be adapted to suit the industrial engine that is under investigation.

Service Measurements of Industrial Burners

The Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser can be used to check that industrial burners are functioning correctly and efficiently and are compliant with environmental regulations. It is of particular use during maintenance and troubleshooting applications and may be used to commission safe and efficient burners.

The Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser’s extended measurement range and rugged design make it suitable for inspecting industrial burners, as does its simple-to-use interface with an array of typical fuel options, sequences of flue gas parameters, and pre-configured settings for each application. The user is guided through each measurement by tips on the Testo 340 Flue Gas Analyser’s display.
