An improved version of Chauvin Arnoux's CA871 and CA879 infrared thermometers, this unit includes the same functionality as the other units but improves the measurement range, the distance measurements can be taken from and includes a suite of features introduced on this model.
Whereas the closest competitor to this model (the CA879) can only measure up to 550°C, the CA1864 beats this value significantly by including a large measurement range of -50 to 1000°C. It also includes much improved targeting ratio of 30:1, which means at a distance of 30" away from the target the unit will shine a 1" laser beam on the measurement point for precise, targeted measurements of surface temperature.
The additional functions unique to this unit including hot and cold alarm functions, MAX/MIN/AVG/DIF functionality and a 20000 count backlit screen for easy viewing of testing data. Like the other testers in this range the unit is also constructed in a pistol-shape, making lining up measurement easy, comfortable and precise thanks to the bright laser sight that's integrated into the unit.
This is also the first IR thermometer in Chauvin Arnoux's range to offer adjustable emissivity, allowing users to adjust the unit as necessary to maintain measurement accuracy on difficult surfaces.
