This product's large scope for use is due to the Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Detector’s combination of integrated gas specific sensors, IR sensor for flammable gases, and PID sensor for volatile organic compounds.
This product’s PID sensor ensures that this gas monitor can effectively detect volatile organic compounds. These compounds are often found in solvents, paint thinners and glues; as these compounds are also prone to evaporate at room temperature, they are also often found in gasoline, diesel, heating oil, kerosene and jet fuel vapours. The widespread prevalence of volatile organic compounds means that quite often workers are exposed to toxic levels of these gases before a regular combustible gas indicator is able to register a concentration significant enough to trigger any alarms. However, the Gas Pro with PID sensor works to improve user safety by utilising UV light to measure the ionisation potential and subsequent toxicity of the gases present in a work site. This Crowcon Gas Pro detector’s IR sensor also makes it ideal for detecting CO2 and flammable gases, such as methane, pentane and propane. This sensor will ensure that the user remains safe even within areas of low oxygen concentration (less than 5% of the local atmosphere), such as in storage tanks purged with inert gas or in confined spaces, as unlike a pellistor gas sensor it does not require oxygen to function. This combined with its resistance to silicon poisoning makes the IR sensor safer and more cost-effective than pellistor sensors as it remains highly responsive and sensitive to flammable gases for longer, reducing the frequency with which the sensor will need to be replaced. In order to attain and retain this high level of sensitivity the IR sensor measures wavelengths which absorb gas, in addition to measuring wavelengths which do not absorb gas. The above PID sensor combined with the IR sensor make this Crowcon Gas Pro Detector particularly suited for use in the gas and oil industries.
Given that the gas and oil industries usually involve noisy work sites, the Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Four Gas Detector will not only issue an audible 95db warning when dangerous gas levels are detected, but will also vibrate and activate the red and blue LED lights around the instrument.
Furthermore, the Crowcon Gas Pro’s design, featuring a top mount display, ensures that the user can continually view gas level readings throughout his/her shift, even when this compact and lightweight gas detector is clipped to the user’s clothes. Its battery, with a life of up to fourteen hours, also adds to this product’s practicality through ensuring that this gas detector remains functional throughout the user’s shift.
