The ETI RayTemp is more than just a standard infrared, non-contact thermometer; this instrument also allows you to connect up a type K temperature probe (sold separately) to measure parameters such as air, liquid and surface temperatures directly.
The RayTemp 8's dual measurement capabilities give you everything you need for comprehensive temperature measurements in a wide variety of applications. Use the infrared mode to easily test food, hot surfaces and other applications where direct contact may be difficult, then use any type K temperature probe to perform more direct measurements as and when needed.
For added precision when testing using the infrared mode, the RayTemp 8 includes ETI's 8 dot circular targeting system. The area of measurement is the diameter inside the dots; the size of the measurement spot will increase/decrease depending on how far away the thermometer is (ETI recommends a distance-to-spot ratio of 12:1; hold the thermometer around 12 inches away for a measurement spot of 1 inch).
When measuring, the RayTemp 8 can measure infrared surface temperatures from -60 to 500°C; this range is increased to -64 to 1370°C when testing using a type K thermocouple probe. Need to calculate high and low temperatures over a period of time? Use the RayTemp 8's MIN/MAX function for this task!
