An upgraded version of Extech's standard TKG100, the TKG150 includes a number of advanced functions not found on the entry-level unit in this series, making it easier than ever to determine the thickness of steel applications such as tankers, ship hulls, boiler tubes, pipes and much more.
The main inclusion on the TKG150 is the built-in datalogger, allowing the user to store readings taken directly into the instrument's large memory. This data is saved directly in Excel format, making it easy to export directly into this program for viewing back at a later date on PC.
Additional functions include an Echo to Echo option that reduces coating errors when measuring, B-scan mode for scanning a visual cross section of a test piece and vibration alarms when a threshold is exceeded.
All of Extech's TKG thickness gauges come with the ability to use different transducers to make measurements. As standard this instrument ships with a 5MHz probe that allows measurements of 0.040" to 20" of steel, but it is also possible to use a 10MHz probe (sold separately) to measure from 0.020 to 20" of steel.
Thickness Range (In Steel) | 5MHz Probe: 0.040 to 20" (1.0 to 508mm); 10MHz Probe: 0.020 to 20" (0.50 to 508mm) |
Material Velocity Calibration Range | 0.200 to 0.7362 in/μS (0.508 to 18.699mm/μS) |
Languages | English, French, Spanish, Italian, Czech, German, Portugese, Slovak, Finnish and Hungarian |
Hold Mode | Holds display to retain last thickness reading with reverse video display |
Freeze Mode | Freezes display (ideal for high temperature readings) |
Fast MIN/MAX Mode | Display Min or Max and actual thickness value at 20 measurements/sec |
Units | Inches/Millimetres/Microseconds |
Illuminating Keypad | F1 = Red, F2 = Yellow, F3 = Green for easy, go/no-go testing |
Gain - Variable Adjustment | Low, Standard, High |
B-Scan - Displays a Cross Section Section of the Test Piece |
Displays a visual cross section of inspection area with no correlation to distance. B-scan alarm colours consist of: red = below min/above max; yellow = caution; green=good |
Echo to Echo | Measures the metal thickness only (paint & coatings do not effect base material thickness value) |
Differential Mode | Displays the different from the actual thickness measurement and a user-entered reference value |
Velocity Mode | Displays acoustic sound speed to measure thickness of unknown materials |
Datalogger | Stores 50k readings (expandable to 100k) and 5000 waveforms; file names up to 20 characters long; the included Extech XPorter software extracts .csv data files that can viewed in MS Excel, Notepad or Wordpad. |
Battery Life | Up to 50hrs (20hrs w/ backlight on) |
