The Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is optimised for simple load and energy studies; it is suitable for engineers and technicians working in the UK, US, Europe, Australia, Brazil and China. The Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is available in three kits that vary in regards to their iFlex current probes:

  • FLUKE 1742/B/INTL - Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger WITHOUT Probes
  • FLUKE 1742/15/INTL - Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger with 1500A iFlex Probes
  • FLUKE 1742/30/INTL -  Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger with 3000A iFlex Probes

Measurement Functions

The Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger can be used to assess power quality in accordance with the standards EN 50160 and IEEE 519. This instrument is fully compliant with IEC 61000-4-30 Class A Edition 3 and is capable of measuring and recording the following power parameters:

  • Voltage
  • Current
  • Power
  • Power Factor
  • Frequency
  • Energy forward/ reverse
  • Peak demand
  • THD
  • Flicker

When used with three-phase and neutral voltage test leads and up to four flexible current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1742/B model), the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger can be used to measure all three voltage and current phases as well as neutral current.

The Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is capable of performing measurements anywhere on the power installation and can be placed at the service entrance, the substation or the load. It is suitable for troubleshooting and analysing power distribution systems as well as quantifying energy usage.

Ergonomic, Rugged Design

Physical Design

To ensure that the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s ports (including USB, Ethernet, AUX and I/O ports) are protected from dust and water ingress when not in use they have been constructed in compliance with IP65. The body of the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is also IP65-certified (when used with an IP65 voltage adapter).

Additionally, the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger features the highest safety rating in the industry (600V CAT IV/ 1000V CAT III), expanding its scope-for-use: it can be used downstream and at service entrances.

Furthermore, the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s wide power range (it will go from 100V to 500V automatically) means that it can derive a power source from the circuit-under-investigation. Nevertheless, this instrument is also supplied with a lithium-ion battery capable of powering the unit for up to four hours. The inclusion of this battery means that the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger will remain operational despite temporary power disruptions to the circuit-under-investigation.

It is also possible to power the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger using a wall line cord.

Also expanding the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s scope-for-use and improving its practicality is its small dimensions: 23cm x 18cm x 5.4cm. Its compact construction means that it is able to be used in tight spaces. Moreover, as this instrument can be secured using a standard chain or another security instrument, protecting it against theft, it can be left safely in the field.

Accessories

In addition to its compact size, the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is also supplied with accessories that allow it to access conductors in remote and difficult-to-reach locations.

It is equipped with a 2m test lead and thin, IP65, flexible iFlex current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1742/B model) enabling access to tight spaces and awkwardly located conductors.

Up to four iFlex current probes can be connected to the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger, each probe is connected separately to ensure maximum measurement flexibility. Furthermore, the wide ranges of the probes (probe dependent) ensure that a high level of accuracy is maintained regardless of the application.

System Interface

Also working to maintain a high level of measurement accuracy is the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s automatic recognition, scaling and powering of the connected probes and/or clamps. Furthermore, its intelligent verification feature automatically checks that probes, clamps and test leads are connected correctly and will digitally adjust faulty connections without the user having to disconnect or reconnect additional components. Incorrect connections are indicated by an amber light visible through the power button; this light changes to green when connections are correct or have been corrected.

In addition to this, the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s quick, graphical and guided PC-application setup provides a simple and easy method by which to configure the instrument for various applications.

Memory and Data Download

The Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger also includes internal memory. This tool will measure and save a number of power parameters automatically in order to ensure that measurement trends are complete.

As mentioned above, the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger includes a number of ports via which data can be downloaded. It is possible to transfer data to a PC via an Ethernet or USB interface. The Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger features two USB ports enabling the simultaneous transfer of data to a PC via a USB interface and directly to a USB memory stick. This allows the user to leave the Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger in the field, saving data to a removable memory stick, whilst he/she views the measurements from a safer distance via a PC.

Alternatively, data may be transferred to a PC via a Wi-Fi connection allowing the user to view data outside of the dangerous area, removing the need for PPE. Moreover, as data can be viewed in real-time, critical power quality and energy decisions may be made quickly.

Analysis and Reporting

Data transferred to a PC via a wired or wireless connection can be viewed, analysed and/or organised into reports using the included Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software.

At the touch of a button, the Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software can create EN 50160, IEEE 519 and GOST 33073 reports. Report templates can be altered in order to accommodate evolving standards.

Moreover, the Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software include a number of analysis features that allow the user to inspect and evaluate every detail of the energy consumption and power quality state-of-health. The user can perform advanced data correlation by selecting particular parameters to create a customised view. It is also possible to see hour/hour, day/day and week/week data comparisons using the Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software.

Finally, if required, data can be exported for use with third-party software programs. The Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software is able to export data in NeQual and PQDIF formats.

The Fluke 1742/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is an effective diagnostic, inspection and maintenance tool with an eclectic array of measurement functions optimised for simple load and energy studies.
