The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is designed for conducting energy saving studies, performing quality-of-service surveys, quantifying energy usage, and troubleshooting power distribution systems. This instrument, which has been optimised for basic power quality logging, can also be used for electrical network planning projects and is able to provide the information required by engineer’s and technician’s making critical power quality and energy decisions.

Like its sister product, the Fluke 1746/EUS Three-Phase Power Quality Logger, this inspection, diagnostic and maintenance tool is suitable for use in the UK, Europe and US. However, the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is also suitable for Australian, Chinese and Brazilian markets.

The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is available in three kits that vary in regards to their included iFlex current probes:

  • FLUKE 1746/B/INTL - Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger WITHOUT Probes
  • FLUKE 1746/15/INTL - Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger with 1500A iFlex Probes
  • FLUKE 1746/30/INTL -  Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger with 3000A iFlex Probes

Measurement Functions

The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is able to log all the parameters required for basic power quality logging, including:

  • Voltage
  • Current
  • Power
  • Power factor
  • Frequency
  • Energy forward/ reverse
  • Peak demand
  • THD
  • Flicker
  • Voltage and current harmonics (up to the 50th)
  • Unbalance
  • Rapid voltage change events
  • Interharmonics (up to the 50th)
  • Inrush current

When used with a three-phase and neutral voltage test lead and up to four iFlex current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1746/B), the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger can be used to measure all three voltage and current phases as well as neutral current.

In addition to capturing a variety of power parameters, the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is able to record voltage events such as dips, swells, interruptions, current and inrush current.

The extensive measurement capabilities of the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger, as well as its compliance with IEC 61000-4-30 Class A Edition 3 specifications, makes it suitable for analysing power quality in accordance with EN 50160 and IEEE 519 standards. Furthermore, the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger can be used to log parameters and events in various stations along the power installation, from the service entrance to the substation to the load.

Ergonomic, Rugged Design

Physical Design

The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger has the highest safety rating in the industry (600V CAT IV / 1000V CAT III), expanding its scope-for-use: the power quality logger can be used at service entrances and downstream.

The compact size (23cm x 18cm x 5.4cm) of the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger also adds to its versatility as it can be used in small spaces. The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger may be secured in place using a standard chain or another security device, allowing the user to leave the field without having to remove the data logger.

The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger has a wide power range (it will go from 100V to 500V automatically) allowing it to derive a power source from the circuit-under-investigation. It is also equipped with a lithium-ion battery capable of supplying the unit with four hours of power, ensuring that it is able to withstand temporary power disruptions.

The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger has an IP rating of 65 (when used with an IP65 voltage input adapter). All of the instrument’s ports (including AUX, I/O, USB and Ethernet ports) are IP65-compliant, ensuring that they are protected from dust and moisture ingress when not in use.

Accessories

The supplied iFlex current probes (NOT included with the Fluke 1746/B model) are also IP65-rated making them suitable for use in rugged environments. These flexible probes are also designed to be thin allowing them to access difficult-to-reach components. Furthermore, these probes have a wide range (probe dependent) which means they are able to provide a high accuracy regardless of the application.

Additionally, the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is supplied with a 2m test lead, again allowing it to reach awkwardly placed conductors.

System Interface

The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger will automatically recognise, scale and power connected accessories such as the iFlex probes and/or clamps, ensuring correct configuration for accurate and reliable measurements.

Further to this, the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s intelligent verification feature will digitally correct unsatisfactory connections to probes, clamps or test leads without the user having to disconnect and/or reconnect the apparatus. When connections are good the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger will shine a green light through the power button; when they are faulty the power button will appear amber.

Moreover, the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s quick, guided, graphical PC-application setup interface adds to the ease, speed, reliability and precision with which the unit can be configured for various tasks.

Memory and Data Download

Data is logged to the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger’s internal memory; it has the capacity to store readings for over twenty logging sessions. This instrument will automatically record a number of parameters to ensure that measurement trends are complete.

Saved results can be downloaded directly to a USB stick and/or may be transferred to a PC via a USB interface, Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection. The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger features two USB ports enabling direct download of data to a USB drive and simultaneous transfer of information to a PC via a USB interface. As a result, the Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is able to remain in the field, saving data the USB stick, whilst the user views the measurements in real-time from a safer distance.

Alternatively, the wireless transfer of data to a PC means the user can monitor measurements at an even greater distance, removing the need for PPE as he/she is outside of the dangerous area, whilst enabling real-time decision-making.

Analysis and Reporting

The supplied Fluke Energy Analyse Plus Software allows the engineer/ technician to view downloaded data on his/her PC; with this software program, he/she may use this information to create EN 50160, IEEE 519 and GOST 33073 reports at the touch of a button. Report templates can be altered to accommodate evolving standards.

Alternatively, the user is able to export data in a PDIQ or NeQual format for use with third-party software.

Data can be analysed and compared using Fluke’s Energy Analyse Plus Software; the engineer or technician can view hour/hour, day/day and week/week comparisons. He/she can also see advanced data correlation by selecting a particular parameter to create a customised view. This software program is suitable for analysing every detail of energy consumption and power quality states-of-health.

The Fluke 1746/INTL Three-Phase Power Quality Logger is an easy-to-use and efficient three-phase power quality analyser and data logger with an eclectic and extensive array of measurement capabilities.
