The Kern PNJ Precision Balances are optimised to provide stable weight readings and continuous weighing, as such they include a high-quality tuning fork weighing system.
The Kern PNJ Precision Balances are available in three models with different measurement ranges and weighing plate designs.

All of the Kern PNJ Precision Balances support automatic internal adjustment ensuring that they remain accurate regardless of their environmental surroundings. This system, combined with the scales’ compact design, makes them ideal for mobile verification applications such as ambulatory gold and jewellery purchasing.
Regardless of design, the Kern PNJ Precision Balances’ large weighing plates are constructed from stainless steel and have been optimised to remain shockproof. Instruments with A-style weighing plates are also supplied with a large, glass draught shield with three sliding doors; this accessory ensures that the sample being weighed is protected from contamination whilst providing the operator with easy access to the weighing plate.
Measurements are indicated on the Kern PNJ Precision Balances’ large LCD displays with a digit height of 16.5mm. The user can configure the balances to indicated measurements in the unit of his/her choice; readings are displayed with the balance’s serial number, the user’s ID, the date, and the time.
Via the display, the user can also view a capacity bar that illuminates to indicate the remaining weighing range. It is possible to program the Kern PNJ Precision Balances to include upper and lower limits; when these limits are reached or breached the scales will alert the user via a visual and audible alarm.
Other measurement functions present on the Kern PNJ Precision Balances include:
- Percentage Determination: the percentage deviation from the target value (100%) is calculated
- Piece Counting: the accuracy of the average piece weight improves gradually due to the automatic reference weight optimisation of the reference weight
Measurements can be exported to a PC or printer (see ‘Accessories’) using the RS-232 interface.
