The UT71E is more than just a standard multimeter - this instrument includes built-in datalogging functionality, making it ideal for measurements over a period of time.

With the UT71E, you'll be able to test AC/DC voltage to 1000V, AC/DC current to 10A, resistance to 40MΩ, capacitance to 40mF, frequency to 400MHz, temperature to 1000°C and power to 2500W. To ensure accuracy on irregular waveforms, the UT71E is a true RMS multimeter and will stabilise readings if this is the case.
Up to 100 individual testing records can be stored directly on the UT71E's integrated memory, then downloaded afterwards to PC via USB connection (also requires UNI-T's software, which is included in the kit).

missing UH coils measurments and transistors hfe
also the probe crocodile is not threaded and the high price are the week points of a great accurate valuable Intelligent Digital Multimeter.

The bad points
This version can measure power drawn from the mains via an adapter unfortunately the adapter is for Europe and not the uk.
The screen update speed is slow sub 2 updates per second and the time it takes for a reading to settle is more like 10 seconds
It has a mv setting but only measures dc not ac with that setting and not connected to anything mine shows around 350mv! (shorting the test leads together shows 0mv)
It can measure duty cycle but only at low frequencies, by a few 10s of Khz mine shows 49% for any wave and any duty cycle from 50% to 99.9%... useless
turning the selector switch makes a beep - which you cant switch off
you cant change the fuses without the entire case
you cant remove the main board without de-soldering the connectors
there is little input protection and the fuses are standard 5x20mm glass quick blow 250v how it manages a cat 3 rating of 1000v+ i just don't know.
there is no dc power input or adapter... which is a problem if you use the data logging for long periods....
the relative mode only works in manual range and is cancelled if you change range! ggggrrrrrrr
the continuity test is very slow to react slower than my old <50 pound maplin wg002
the temp probe cant go above 200-250C without being damaged
it does not include any spare fuses
the interface takes some getting used to for example store and recall are the SAME button, pressing gives store, pressing and holding down gives recall.... a recipe for problems
the good points
it has 100 internal memories and can do timed data logging
the pc logging software works on windows 7 x64bit
the case feels strong and does not flex
the frequency measurement goes to 10s of Mhz and is very very accurate
it has a uA range
it can measure large caps say 3300uF... although it takes ages to do it
it comes with a case, probes, short test leads, clips,optical usb and cable temp probe +manual and cd.
its 40000 count
it beeps at you if you have the leads in the wrong sockets for the range or type of measurement
its true rms
