The C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locators are high-performing, high-precision and high-flexibility pipe and cable detection tools with data logging and depth measurement. These CATs can detect, pinpoint, trace and identify a wide range of pipes and cables as they are able to receive a range of frequencies from 512/640Hz up to 131kHz including a dual-frequency of 33kHz and 131kHz. This means that a greater number of pipes and cables can be energised and therefore detected including poorly earthed cables and pipes/ cables with smaller diameters.

Additionally, the C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locator’s optimised locator sensitivity and noise rejection ensure that it can detect the weakest of signals amongst loud background noise. There are two C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locator models available:

• MXL4-DBG: C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locator with GPS and Bluetooth

Both of these models are capable of logging data for up to a year which can be downloaded to a PC via a USB cable. The Bluetooth-enabled C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locator can also transfer data to a PC, tablet or smartphone wirelessly. Once downloaded, C. Scope’s free-to-download ToolKit PC Software and Relay Smartphone App can be used to organise and analyse data in charts and graphs.

In addition to this, C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locators with Bluetooth can be used with third-party GPS equipment enabling ‘one pass’ underground utility surveys to be conducted.

Furthermore, models with integrated GPS will log where the C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locator has been used; GPS data can be logged for up to a year and is viewable using either Google Earth™ or Google Maps™. This data can also be transferred to a PC, tablet or smartphone via USB or Bluetooth for use with C. Scope’s free-to-download Toolkit Software and Relay Smartphone App.

The C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locators are also capable of determining depth measurements for buried pipes, cables and sondes when used with a C. Scope MXT4 Transmitter. Additionally, the C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locators can monitor the true strength of the C. Scope MXT4 Transmitter’s signal despite the depth of the buried service, enabling the user to identify the layout of pipe and cable networks.

The C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locators also include the following functions:

• AlarmZone™: alerts the user to the presence of shallow pipes and cables; the trigger depth can be adjusted by the user to suit local requirements
• Peak Hold: enables exact and efficient pinpointing of buried services
• Dynamic Swing Sensor: excessive swinging can have a negative effect on the locator’s accuracy; this function alerts the user when the CAT is being swung too much

Moreover, to ensure the C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locators are functioning within their specified accuracies, they include an Automatic Daily Self-Test (ADST) which is performed every day upon startup. The results of this test are displayed on the C. Scope MXL4 Data Logging Precision Cable Locator and saved to its internal memory. Results can be downloaded to a PC any time within the next twelve months and can be used with C. Scope’s Toolkit Software to create a Product Validation Certificate. The C. Scope Toolkit Software can also be used to view and print the original Calibration Certificate.
