Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester - Probe

The Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester is ideal for detecting the presence of voltage in electrical installations.  It can detect voltages up to 690V AC and 750V DC.

This instrument will indicate the level, type (AC/DC) and polarity of the detected voltage using its LED light display.  Green LEDs indicate low voltages (below 25V), whilst red LEDs indicate hazardous voltages. Detection is also indicated by a loud audible signal.

Furthermore, whenever this tester measures voltages of above 50V AC or 120V DC its ELV LED will flash; this light will also flicker if the CA 742 detects a power supply fault. The higher the voltage level the faster the ELV LED will flash. This procedure is part of the Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester’s integrated redundant safety system.

The Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester is able to perform comprehensive autotests. During this sequence the voltage tester will check:

  • Electrical circuits
  • Power supply
  • Display
  • Condition of the measurement leads

The other tests available on this model include:

  • Single pole phase test
  • Phase sequence tests up to 400Hz

The operator may also utilise the Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester to perform continuity tests at 100Ω. If a current is detected the instrument will issue an audible and visual alert.  Furthermore, if a voltage is not detected then the Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester will perform the above continuity test automatically.

Moreover, should the user wish to, he/she may purchase a Chauvin Arnoux CA753 Adapter (NOT included) in order to test 2P+E power sockets. The tests available on the Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester act as a testament to its versatility and adaptability.

This versatility and adaptability are also seen in its physical design. The Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester features a rugged, IP65 casing, making it suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor environments. It also remains functional in temperatures as low as -15°C.

Its test probe and cable are removable, ensuring that they can be easily replaced, thereby extending the longevity of this product. Moreover, the included IP2X test probes are fitted with a 10N spring which ensures quick and safe testing in all situations.

The design and measurement capabilities of this instrument mean that it is compliant with a number of safety and measurement standards, including:

  • IEC 61243-3 Edition 2
  • EN 61243-3 Ed. 2009
  • EN 61243-3 Ed. 2010
  • DIN VDE 0682-401 Ed.2011

The Chauvin Arnoux CA742 IP2X Voltage Absence Tester can be used to check indoor and outdoor 600V CAT IV electrical installations. It is a versatile, adaptable, rugged product; the ideal addition to any electrician’s toolkit.
