Description
Designed for locating faults in shielded and unshielded medium voltage and low voltage power cables, the Megger EZ-THUMP 3kV Portable Fault Location System is a portable, compact, and lightweight dual-stage cable fault locator. It is the only dual-stage 3kV unit on the market suitable for use with low voltage cables with 600/1000V ratings and a maximum test level of 1.8kV or 3kV (3 Uo). In addition to this, the Megger EZ-THUMP 3kV Portable Fault Location System is ideal for industrial and utility applications, as well as street light fault locating, as it can be used to check low- and medium-voltage cables in 5kV systems.
Versatile testing capabilities ensure the Megger EZ-THUMP 3kV Portable Fault Location System is suitable for detecting a variety of faults in a range of systems. It supports:
- TDR testing to pre-locate very low resistance cable faults
- Arc Reflection Method (ARM) pre-location featuring Multishot Technology for detecting high resistance/flashover faults in LV/MV cables
- Dual-stage 500-joule surge generator for pinpointing high resistive faults
- Testing for breakdown detection
- DC hi-pot test with insulation resistance indication
- Sheath testing/ sheath fault locating MV cables
- Ground fault pinpointing LV/unshielded cables
In addition to this, the Megger EZ-THUMP 3kV Portable Fault Location System offers an automatic fault locating procedure that begins with hi-pot testing followed by pre-location and pinpointing. It also includes automatic end of cable and distance to fault detection, automatic breakdown detection, user-configurable Sheath Fault/ Ground Fault mode, and Manual Voltage Control. Furthermore, an F-OHM HV interlock detects improper connections. Readings/information are indicated on the seven-inch HiBrite colour display optimised for outdoor visibility.
The Megger EZ-THUMP 3kV Portable Fault Location System can be operated via E-Tray GUI and a rotary control knob. Its quick-step mode combined with the simple E-Tray GUI ensures it is easy for inexperienced users to operate.
Finally, this rugged, high-impact, and weather-resistant (IP53) cable fault locator draws power from either an internal battery or mains supply. The Megger EZ-THUMP 3kV Portable Fault Location System can be operated by a mains supply while its battery recharges.
