The Micronics Portaflow D650 eliminates the need to cut into pipes or interrupt ongoing processes. It operates on the principle of the Doppler effect. It transmits high-frequency sound waves through a closed pipe into the flowing liquid. The signals interact with particles or gas bubbles suspended in the fluid, which reflect the sound waves to the sensor. If the reflectors are in motion, the returned signal encounters a frequency shift (the Doppler effect).
