The Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply is a compact PSU suitable for bench and rack-mounted applications. It is equipped with three independent channels with full capabilities, mixed-mode regulation and total power of 375 Watts.
For a brief introduction to the Aim-TTi MX Series of Multi-Output DC Power Supplies, please see the following video.
Applications
The ergonomic, easy-to-use design of the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply, combined with its fully functional outputs, makes it suitable for the following applications:
- Medium- to high-power benchtop applications requiring multiple channels
- Applications with varying voltage and current requirements
- Powering rail sensitive circuits
- Repetitive testing applications
- High-density system applications requiring multiple outputs from a limited rack space
Mixed-Mode Regulation
The Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply combines high-frequency switch-mode pre-regulation with a linear post-regulation to provide impressive power density, excellent line and load regulation, good transient response and low noise. Mixed-mode regulation allows the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply to offer a performance similar to that of an all-linear PSU.
Outputs
The Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes three isolated and independent outputs. The low power output (18W) is completely variable between 0 and 12V, while the two high power outputs (180W) can be set to 30V/6A, 15V/10A and 60V/3A.
Variable voltage and current combinations mean the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply can be tailored to suit a range of applications; there are up to twenty-six range combinations available to ensure maximum flexibility. Range switching facilitates the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s ability to provide outputs up to 120V and 20A. For further information regarding the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s output ranges, please see the following table.
Output 1 | Output 2 | Output 3 | |
Range 1 | 30V/6A | 30V/6A | 5.5V/3A |
Range 2 | 15V/10A | 15V/10A | 12V/1.5A |
Range 3 | 60V/3A | 60V/3A | - |
Range 4 | 30V/12A* | - | - |
Range 5 | 15V/20A* | - | - |
Range 6 | 60V/6A* | - | - |
Range 7 | 120V/3A* | - | - |
Note | * = output 2 disabled (shared power mode) |
In addition to this, when the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply is placed in Shared Power mode, the two high power outputs can be combined to provide a total power output of 360W (as 15V/20A, 30V/12A, 60V/6A and 120V/3A) through a single channel. In Shared Power mode, the third low power output is disabled.
Each of the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs supports CI and CV operation, OVP/ OCP trips and high-resolution metering in addition to switchable remote sensing. Furthermore, all three of the channels include an independent On/Off switch.
On/Off Synchronism and Sequencing
As mentioned above, each of the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s channels includes an On/Off switch for activating and deactivating each of the outputs independently. This PSU also includes Multi-On and Multi-Off buttons that can be used to engage or disengage all the channels simultaneously.
As default the Multi-On and Multi-Off buttons operate all of the channels at the same time; however, these buttons can be programmed to activate or deactivate specified channels in a given order with delays ranging from ten milliseconds to twenty seconds. The Multi-On and Multi-Off buttons are essential when working on circuits that may be damaged if only one voltage rail is present or if voltage rails are not provided in the correct sequence.
Voltage Tracking
As previously noted, each of the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s channels is completely independent and isolated; this allows the PSU to support voltage tracking.
Voltage Tracking means that the voltage of one output tracks the voltage of the master output thereby allowing the user to set equal voltages of the same or opposite polarities. Furthermore, voltage tracking is particularly useful when adjusting outputs that have been wired in series or parallel as only the master output’s voltage needs to be changed.
Current Meter Averaging
The Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s channels also support current meter averaging which is particularly useful when measuring rapidly varying loads. This feature stabilises the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s display and reduces the speed and degree of variation by showing the average measurement taken from several readings.
OVP and OCP Trips
Additionally, each of the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply's outputs is able to accommodate over-voltage and over-current trips which, when triggered, will turn the output off and provide different protection, unlike limit settings.
Setting Stores and Multi-Output Linked Memories
All three of the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs include fifty setting stores to which parameters such as the range, OVP and OCP can be saved. This facilitates fast and simple recall and implementation of required settings.
Further to this, the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply has a fifty-point memory for saving settings pertaining to outputs used in combination.
Individual Output Display
Viewing and altering the range, OCP, OVP and current meter averaging for each channel is simple and easy using the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s Display mode. The operator can also use this mode to view the fifty memory stores for the selected output. Additionally, when engaged the Display mode indicates the selected output’s data in larger digits.
Easy to Use
Data is indicated on the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s large graphic display. The user is able to view data for all three channels in parallel.
Accessing the required outputs, features and functions is made easy due to the inclusion of an illuminated keypad. This keypad can be used to set the voltage and current outputs for each channel numerically. Alternatively, the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s control knob may be used to adjust outputs.
Furthermore, to prevent accidental adjustment the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes a Lock key on the front panel. Alternatively, the front panel can be secured using a specified password. Password-protection is particularly useful when integrating the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply into an existing system.
High Setting Resolution
To ensure that voltage and current parameters are set accurately, the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes a high 1mV/ 1mA resolution and a five-digit setting and metering display.
Ergonomic
The Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply is suitable for both bench and rack-mounted applications. To this end, it features a compact design: the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply is housed in a half-rack width by 3U high case designed to take up minimum bench space. Additionally, two Aim-TTi MX180T units can be mounted into one rack space; please note that an OPTIONAL rack mount kit for this PSU is available, please call for details.
Moreover, as the Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes front input ventilation, space around the top and bottom of the unit is not required, again reducing its bench footprint. The Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply also includes an intelligent fan controller for monitoring ambient temperature and power loading.
The Aim-TTi MX180T Triple-Output DC Power Supply is an adaptable, simple-to-use and compact PSU with three independent channels complete with full capabilities.
