The Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter functions as both an insulation and continuity tester and digital multimeter. It includes a number of test functions optimised for the electronics industries.

The Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter is able to perform the following tests:

  • Insulation: test voltage of 10 to 500V with a measurement range 2KΩ to 50GΩ
  • Continuity: 0 to 100Ω (20mA/ 200mA measurement current)
  • Resistance: 0 to 1000kΩ
  • Voltage: 0.3V to 700V DC

The Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter is ideal for both low-current applications and power stages. Also adding to this product's scope-for-use is its ability to conduct electrostatic discharge applications, its 10V and 100V test voltages can also be used with appropriate electrodes to faciltate these tests.

The measurements taken using the Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter are indicated on its backlit dual, digital display with a logarithmic bar graph. Via the secondary display, the user can view the actual test voltage, the test current and the measured value. In addition to this, when the megohmmeter is used with Alarm function if one of the upper or lower limits is breached this will be indicated on the secondary display. Furthermore, when the Reference function is engaged any reading that differs from the reference value will be displayed on the secondary display, along with the value and percentage of the differentiation.

The Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter includes a number of modes and functions which facilitate the user’s ability to tailor the Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter to his/her requirements. These modes and functions include:

  • Manual Mode
  • Lock mode – this mode will lock the instrument into performing an insulation test until the mode button is pressed for a second time or fifteen minutes have elapsed. This mode is particularly useful for conducting hands-free measurements.
  • Timer mode – again this mode facilitates hands-free operation as it allows the user to conduct tests over pre-programmed durations. The user is able to set test lengths between 1 and 39:59 minutes.
  • Alarm function – as indicated above the user is able to set upper and lower thresholds for measurement tests (insulation and continuity) which are indicated on the screen. If these limits are breached the Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter will issue a visible and audible signal.
  • Reference function – ideal for measuring the difference in resistance between two wires. As indicated previously, when this mode is engaged the megohmmeter will indicate measurements that differ from the reference value via the display.

With regards to this product’s physicality, also adding to its ease-of-use is its magnetic stand which allows the user to mount the tester on a metal surface, again facilitating hands-free measurements.

Further to this, its 600V CAT IV, IP54/ IK04 casing ensures that it is suitable for use within a variety of rugged environments, whilst the design of its operating system means that it remains easy-to-use even when wearing safety gloves.

In addition to the aforementioned safety and ingress protection standards, this compact and lightweight tester is also compliant with the IEC 61557 standard with regards to its continuity test (200mA current) and insulation test (up to 2GΩ) functions.  Moreover, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter’s continuity test is equipped with an active fuseless protection for when a voltage is present, adding to the safety of this instrument.

In addition to its ergonomic and safety features, as well as its measurement capabilities, the  Chauvin Arnoux CA6534 Electronics Megohmmeter has been designed to accommodate efficient data collection and as such includes an internal memory cable of storing up to 1300 records. These records may be transferred to other compatible devices via Bluetooth or by may be sent to a PC using the Megohmmeter Transfer (MEG) Software. Once transferred the user is able to view the readings according to measurement type. Furthermore, this software may be used to conduct tests remotely; the operator can view the results via a real-time graphical display.

Finally, this instrument is also compatible with Chauvin Arnoux’s DataView® Software (NOT included), which allows the user to create customised measurement reports including the site location and operator details.
