The Problem
A wastewater plant in Germany was facing two problems:
Problem One
The plant was struggling to identify microorganisms in sludge samples due to their low contrast. This is a problem common to all water treatment facilities.
Problem Two
Leftover sludge is converted into biofuel but in order to do this the sludge cake has to contain a specific level of moisture. The wastewater facility needed a method of determining the moisture content of the sludge cakes.
The Solution
The water treatment facility required both a method of identifying microorganisms in sludge samples and a way of determining the moisture content of sludge cakes.
Solution One

Solution Two
