For further information regarding these products, please see the descriptions below.
The Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter with TrendCapture is supplied with the aforementioned premium test leads, alligator clips and amp jack plugs, as well as a limited lifetime warranty. It is also compatible with an OPTIONAL Fluke magnetic hanger (sold separately) which enables handsfree monitoring of electronic systems.
The Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter is ideal for troubleshooting electronics, as well as plant automation, power distribution and electro-mechanical equipment. This instrument is capable of measuring the following parameters:
The Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter also includes a Peak Capture function capable of recording transients as fast as 250µs.
With regards to measuring current, the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter can read up to 10A and up to 20A for 30 seconds. It is also equipped with a selectable AC filter that is utilised during Smoothing mode in order to indicate a stable reading when there is an erratic or noisy input signal. Furthermore, the Fluke 289’s ability to conduct true-RMS voltage and current measurements ensures that non-linear signals can be read accurately.
Also working to maintain the accuracy of the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter is its Relative mode which eliminates test lead resistance from low resistance or capacitance measurements. Similarly, its Low Impedance Voltage function (LoZ) removes ghost voltages; this function proves particularly useful when testing for the presence or absence of live power. Moreover, the Fluke 289’s low pass filter also ensures that measurements are as accurate as possible. This feature is optimised for ensuring that voltage and frequency measurements, conducted simultaneously on electronically noisy equipment, such as adjustable speed motor drives, are accurate.
In addition to this, the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter includes a two terminal 50Ω range with a 1mΩ resolution and a 10mA source current; this is included to facilitate the measurement and comparison of differences in motor winding resistance or contact resistance.
Readings are viewable via the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter’s large, 50 000-count, ¼ VGA dot matrix display with a white backlight. Via the display, the user can view measurements numerically or graphically using the TrendCapture function.
The TrendCapture function facilitates the user’s ability to view logged data in a graphical form without using a PC. This enables him/her to identify anomalies quickly. The user is able to analyse TrendCapture data on-site and the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter is able to zoom in on this data up to fourteen times. For further information regarding the Fluke 289's TrendCapture function, please see the following video.
As the Fluke 289’s TrendCapture function is intended for use with logged data, this multimeter is also equipped with an extensive memory and sophisticated data logging capabilities which allow it to monitor and log signals, data and events unsupervised and over a prolonged period of time. The Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter is able to record a multitude of logging sessions before exportation to a PC becomes necessary. It also includes a real-time clock to ensure that readings are logged with an automatic time stamp.
Further to this, the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter features adjustable recording and auto-hold thresholds which allow the user to set a reading percentage change that will indicate the start of a new event.
Measurements downloaded to a PC can be analysed and organised into reports using the included Fluke FlukeView® Forms Software (see below). Alternatively, as the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter is compatible with the Fluke Connect™ App, measurements may be sent to a colleague's or a client's smartphone or tablet. Communication between the Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter and the individual's iOS or Android device (with the Fluke Connect™ App downloaded) is facilitated by the included Fluke iR3000 FC Infrared Connector (see below); this connector also allows the multimeter to connect to other Fluke FC-enabled tools.
Finally, this comprehensive, sophisticated and versatile data logging multimeter is equipped with integrated help screens for its multitudinous functions. These are accessible via the ‘i’ key and enable efficient, effective and easy operation of the instrument.
The Fluke 289 True-RMS Industrial Logging Multimeter with TrendCapture is ideal for demanding industrial applications such as troubleshooting difficult-to-identify electronic problems.
The Fluke ir3000 FC Infrared Connector is used in conjunction with the above Fluke 289 True-RMS Multimeter to increase the efficiency with which electrical issues can be identified, analysed and communicated to relevant persons. This connector facilitates the attached multimeter’s ability to communicate with the Fluke Connect™ App, as well as other Fluke FC-enabled tools.
The Fluke ir3000 FC Infrared Connector is placed over the Fluke 289 Multimeter’s IR port. Once connected the user is able to capture real-time readings from the primary display which may be sent to the user’s, a colleague's, or a client’s smartphone or tablet (with the Fluke Connect App downloaded). This facilitates quicker, more effective team communication thereby improving job efficiency.
In addition to sharing data, the Fluke ir3000 FC Infrared Connector also allows the user to graph and save data to his/her smartphone or tablet.
The Fluke ir3000 FC Infrared Connector is a practical addition to the Fluke 289 True-RMS Multimeter. It is ideal for improving the speed, certainty and ease with which electrical diagnostics applications can be conducted.
The Fluke FlukeView® Forms Software Plus Designer can be used to analyse and organise data as well as create customised reports.
Measurements can be downloaded from the Fluke 289 True-RMS Multimeter to a PC and then analysed using the Fluke FlukeView® Forms Software Plus Designer; alternatively, this software is able to recognise and communicate with the Fluke 289 Multimeter via an infrared serial interface, allowing it to log data automatically.
In addition to logging data, the Fluke FlukeView® Forms Software Plus Designer is able to record events and includes a number of adjustable functions that enable the user to save the data most relevant to his/her application. The amount of signal change that will trigger an event can be adjusted to suit the application as can the logging intervals; for instance, the software can be programmed to log data every five minutes or every thirty seconds etc.
Using the Fluke FlukeView® Forms Software Plus Designer, logged and downloaded data may be subjected to comprehensive analysis. Data can be displayed in tables, graphs or diagrams and can be annotated to draw attention to particular events. This information may be included on reports that have been customised to include the user’s company logo.
The analysis and reporting capabilities of the Fluke FlukeView® Forms Software Plus Designer allow the user to compare and review data from up to six compatible meters simultaneously, allowing for quicker and more comprehensive data evaluation. It is, therefore, faster and easier to spot trends and document relevant readings.
Stored data can be saved to the user’s PC; alternatively, it can be sent to print or exported to other software. It is also possible for clients or colleagues to access and interact with this information via Fluke’s FlukeView® Demo Reader (available for free download).
The Fluke FlukeView® Forms Software Plus Designer expands the analytical capabilities of Fluke 289 True-RMS Multimeter; it is ideal for performing comprehensive data analysis and creating customised, relevant reports.
As mentioned above this kit can be used in conjunction with the Fluke Connect™ App; whilst this app is NOT included in this kit, it is available for download from the App Store and Google Play. Please see the video and bullet points below for a quick overview of the Fluke Connect™ App.
