The Kewtech SMARTPAT PAT Tester is a Pass/Fail portable appliance tester which can be converted to a full downloading PAT tester when used with Kewtech’s KEWPAT app (more information below).
The Kewtech SMARTPAT PAT Tester will indicate whether a portable appliance has passed or failed a particular test by changing the large, LCD, backlit display’s colour to either green (pass) or red (fail). It is capable of performing the following checks:
This PAT tester allows the user to select whether he or she wishes to run leakage tests at either 110V or 230V and is able to test 10mA and 30mA portable RCDs without tripping these instruments. The inclusion of an extension lead adapter and earth continuity test lead with probe and crocodile clip further extends this product’s scope-for-use.
The Kewtech SMARTPAT PAT Tester can also be adjusted to suit the user’s needs as he/she may use the KEWPAT app to create personalised test sequences. This instrument also includes automatic test sequences for Class I and Class II appliances which can be easily accessed using dedicated function buttons.
In addition to its extensive testing capabilities and adjustability, the Kewtech SMARTPAT PAT Tester has also been designed to ensure checks are as accurate as possible and to this end includes a test lead nulling feature.
It is also capable of running an appliance status pre-check which determines whether the appliance under investigation is powered on or off. This protects both the user and PAT tester from unnecessary harm.
Finally, this easy-to-use, battery operated PAT tester can be used for approximately 1400 tests before it becomes necessary to replace the batteries.

The KEWPAT App can be downloaded for FREE from the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android); it allows the user to control his/her Kewtech SMARTPAT PAT Tester via an iOS or Android smartphone.
Compatible Android and iOS smartphones can be used to program and initiate tests. The user is able to create customised test sequences and specify the pass limits, duration and the number of repeats required. Using the risk assessment feature, the operator can adjust any tests or test sequences in accordance with the Code of Practice.
Moreover, he/she need only enter the product type and establishment type into the risk assessment tool in order to view the recommended testing frequency. The recommended testing frequency can be adjusted to incorporate any extenuating factors, such as dampness.
Results derived from these tests are transmitted from the Kewtech SMARTPAT back to the user's smartphone. Please note that whilst optimised for use with the Kewtech SMARTPAT, this app can be used in Manual mode with Kewtech's EZYPAT and EZYPAT PLUS to collect data and create reports manually. Once data has been collected the user can enter additional information before either saving the record to a database or sending it to print. Labels printed using this app can be customised to include a company logo.
The KEWPAT App has been optimised to make data entry and collection as easy as possible. To this end, it includes auto-number increment, as well as drop-down menus for customer, site, location and product description information. Alternatively, this app can be used to scan barcodes and QR data codes to populate these fields automatically.
In addition to recording written data, this app facilitates the user's ability to save images of appliances-under-test, which serve as evidence of visual inspections, to the product register.
Comprehensive data collection and ease-of-use are at the forefront of this app's design. As such, it includes voice prompt helps and can be used to manage databases and customer information. Further to this, the transferring of information is also simple as the KEWPAT App can be connected to the user's PC via Wi-Fi.
