Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester Description

The Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester includes the following testing capabilities:

• Low current earth continuity test with Zap circuit
• Insulation resistance test
• IEC lead test
• Protective conductor current test
• Touch current test
• Load power/current test
• Alternative leakage current test
• RCD test
• Power socket test
• Point-to-point fixed appliance tests for earth continuity
• Point-to-point fixed appliance tests for insulation resistance
• Class 2 FE (5th edition update) 

These tests can be arranged into up to 100 user-customised visual and electrical test sequences. These sequences can be saved to the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester’s extensive internal memory (capacity for 10 000 results).

This instrument is ideal for testing high-volumes of portable appliances in accordance with the IET 5^th Edition Code of Practice. To this end, it also includes an integrated risk assessment tool with retest calculator, allowing the user to determine the suggested retest period of each appliance-under-investigation.

Software Compatibility

The Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester's compatibility with Seaward’s PATGuard 3.4 Software with Time Manager also adds to its suitability for testing appliances in accordance with the IET 5^th Edition Code of Practice. Using this software the operator can organise results, write reports, create invoices, and manage a team of workers.

In addition to this, the Apollo 500+ features Bluetooth connectivity and is able to transfer data to a compatible smartphone or tablet wirelessly. Moreover, this instrument can be used with Seaward’s Bluetooth 2D Elite Barcode Scanner (NOT included) and Test ‘n’ Tag Elite 2 Printer (NOT included) to scan, read and print QR code labels, thereby improving testing efficiency and expanding the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester’s scope-for-use.

Firmware Features

Also expanding the Apollo 500+’s scope-for-use and increasing its testing efficiency, are the numerous updates made to its firmware. These include:

• User permissions for Bluetooth
• An option to delete results
• A ‘View Data Menu’ that has been optimised for faster scrolling
• An advanced search function designed to allow the user to filter data according to specifications such as the PASS/ FAIL status of a particular test
• An expanded ‘After Test’ function that includes an option to print test results automatically
• ‘Worst’ and ‘Last’ options for leakage tests
• Customisable drop-down menus – the user is able to remove unwanted options from predictive lists

The new 5th Edition firmware will also be available to download free of charge for current Apollo users who will be able to update to the new firmware and benefit from the new test features.

Note: in existing Apollos touch current tests will be limited by the hardware to 3.5mA.

Hardware Features

Accessing the above features, navigating the Apollo 500+’s interface, and entering information are made simple as a result of the tester’s high-definition, colour display and QWERTY keyboard.

Also working to improve the convenience and practicality of this product is its rechargeable, interchangeable battery. The user can power the Seaward Apollo 500+ PAT Tester using this battery or via a mains supply; thereby allowing him/her to tailor the instrument to the application and reducing the tester’s downtime.
