It will cover electrical relay testing; primary injection testing; and high voltage testing for dead using T&R’s HV equipment. This workshop is intended as an introduction to T&R high voltage testing tools and will provide instruction on using these instruments to complete high voltage testing procedures. How
This high voltage testing workshop comprises three seminars delivered by T&R’s Commercial and Sales Director Gary Biggs. These presentations will cover:
- Electrical relay testing with T&R’s 200ADM-P, 50ADM-P, and TPT9000
- Primary injection testing with T&R’s 750ADM, PCU, and Z-OVR
- High voltage testing for dead using Metrohm’s HVI-series
Why
High voltage electrical engineers will learn to test, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain high voltage systems, including (for example) substations, transformers, or wind turbines, efficiently, easily and ensuring engineer safety.

High Voltage Testing Topics
T&R’s Commercial and Sales Director Gary Biggs will deliver three presentations covering electrical relay testing; primary injection testing; and high voltage testing for dead. All three talks will detail how electrical engineers can use T&R and Metrohom equipment to maintain compliance with high-voltage testing procedures.
Electrical Relay Testing
This seminar will focus on using the T&R 200 ADM-P Secondary Current Injection Test Set, T&R 50ADM-P Current Injection System; and TPT9000 Transformer Polarity Tester to check relays, identify errors, and understand how they occur. This talk will also highlight the different types of protection relays offer and how they interact with circuit breakers to ensure the safety of high-voltage systems.
Primary Injection Testing
Beginning with a discussion about the difference between secondary and primary injection testing, T&R’s Gary Biggs will explain why primary injection testing is typically used as a commissioning tool. The presentation will focus on using T&R's 750ADM Primary Injection Test Set and PCU Primary Current Injection Test Set for the primary injection test procedure.
Following this, the focus will shift to using the T&R Z-OVR Cable Impedance Test Set to measure, rather than calculate, impedance in high-voltage cables, explaining why this is beneficial.
High Voltage Testing for Dead
The third and final talk will consider which of Metrohm’s HVI High Voltage Indicators are suitable for high voltage dead testing situations. In addition to highlighting the unique features of the HVI series, this seminar will demonstrate how to conduct measurements successfully and examine the causes of measurement errors.
