Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply

The Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply is a flexible PSU equipped with four equal-power (105W) outputs and support for a range of interfaces.

For an introduction to Aim-TTi’s MX series of Multi-Output DC Power Supplies, please see the following video.

MX Series update: MX100Q

Applications

The Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply is suitable for the following applications:

  • Medium- to high-power benchtop applications requiring multiple channels
  • Applications with varying voltage and current requirements
  • Powering rail sensitive circuits
  • Repetitive testing applications
  • High-density system applications requiring multiple outputs from a limited rack space
  • Remote control applications where bus interface requirements may change

Outputs

Each of the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs are isolated, independent and of equal power (105W). They are all able to support CI and CV operation, OVP/ OCP trips, high-resolution metering and switchable remote sensing. Additionally, these outputs support multiple range combinations providing the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply with maximum flexibility. Please see the table below for an overview of the ranges each channel is able to accommodate.

  Output 1 Output 2 Output 3 Output 4
Range 1 35V/3A 35V/3A 35V/3A 35V/3A
Range 2 16V/6A 16V/6A 70V/1.5A 70V/1.5A
Range 3 35V/6A* 35V/6A* 70V/3A* 70V/3A*
Note * = subject to another output being disabled (shared power mode)

Support for range switching allows the outputs to provide 70V/6A. Moreover, the Shared Power mode can be used to combine outputs internally to provide a total power output of 210W (as 35V/6A or 70V/3A) via a single channel.

Mixed-Mode Regulation

Mixed-mode regulation combines a high-frequency switch-mode pre-regulation with linear post-regulation, enabling the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply to provide a performance close to that of an all-linear design.

Additionally, mixed-mode regulation provides the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply with an impressive power density, excellent line and load regulation, good transient response and low noise.

On/Off Synchronism and Sequencing

Each of the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s channels features a dedicated On/Off switch.

However, as some circuits can be damaged by the presence of only one voltage rail and/or when voltage rails are not supplied in the correct sequence, the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply includes Multi-On and Multi-Off buttons. As default these buttons activate or deactivate the outputs simultaneously; they can be re-programmed to activate or deactivate selected outputs in a specified sequence.

Voltage Tracking

As all four of the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs are isolated and independent, they are able to support voltage tracking: the voltage on one channel automatically tracks the voltage of another channel. This allows the user to set equal voltages of the same or opposite polarity and means he/she can alter the voltage of channels wired in series or parallel by adjusting the master output.

OVP and OCP Trips

In addition to voltage tracking, all of the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s channels can support over-voltage and over-current trips. When triggered, the OCP and/or OVP will shut off the output and provide a different level of protection.

Current Meter Averaging

Current meter averaging stabilises the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s display by showing the average reading taken from several measurements. This reduces the speed and degree of variation and is particularly useful when measuring rapidly changing loads.

Setting Stores and Multi-Output Linked Memories

Parameters such as range, OVP and OCP for each channel can be saved to the output’s dedicated memory with fifty setting stores. Furthermore, the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply includes an additional fifty settings store to which parameters pertaining to multi-output combinations can be saved.

Individual Output Display

Using the Individual Display mode, the operator can view and alter the selected output’s range, OVP, OCP, current meter averaging and fifty memory stores. Additionally, data pertaining to the selected output is displayed in larger digits.

High Setting Resolution

Voltage and current parameters can be set for each channel using either the illuminated keypad or control knob. The Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply includes a five-digit metering and setting display with a resolution of 1mV or 0.1mA to ensure parameters are set accurately.

The illuminated keypad also provides access to the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s other functions and settings. When the required parameters, functions and settings have been programmed, the user can secure the front panel to prevent accidental alternation by pressing the Lock button. Alternatively, the front panel can be secured using a password of the operator’s choice. Password-protection protects against both accidental and unauthorised alteration and is particularly useful when integrating the PSU into an existing system.

Ergonomic

Data for all four channels is displayed in parallel on the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s large, graphic display. As mentioned above, the user can choose to focus on a particular output using the Individual Display Mode.

To ensure suitability for both benchtop and rack-mounted applications, the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply is compact and housed in a three-quarter rack width by 3U high casing. Additionally, this PSU features front input ventilation which removes the need for extra space around the unit. The Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply also includes an intelligent fan controller for monitoring ambient temperature and power loading.

Also adding to the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply’s suitability for rack-mounted applications is the inclusion of output and remote sense terminals on the front and rear of the unit.

Remote Control Interfaces and LabView & IVI Driver

To enable remote operation, the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply supports USB, LAN (supports LXI), RS-232 and GPIB interfaces.

Finally, the Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply also includes an IVI-driver for Windows which supports high-level applications such as LabView, LabWindows and Keysight VEE.

The Aim-TTi MX100QP Quadruple-Output DC Power Supply is a compact and comprehensive PSU with four equal power outputs and multiple range combinations for maximum flexibility.
