The Fluke P3214-XXX Water Hydraulic Deadweight Tester – Single Range is available in four models that vary with regards to their pressure and measurement units. Each of these models is suitable for calibrating a variety of pressure sensing instruments including transmitters, transducers, gauges and pressure switches. The Fluke P3214-XXX Water Hydraulic Deadweight Tester uses water in order to create hydraulic pressure, the inclusion of a high-quality screw press facilitates the user’s ability to create and make fine adjustments to hydraulic pressure.The integrated hand pump both accommodates large volume requirements and allows the user to prime the system prior to operation.
During the calibration process, the user is able to monitor the quality and level of water via the clear, acrylic reservoir. Post-calibration, water can be removed quickly via the built-in drain plug.
When hydraulic pressure is created the piston is forced upwards in its cylinder; this upward force is balanced using accurately calibrated weight masses. Each of these weight masses is constructed from series 3, non-magnetic, austenitic, stainless steel, ensuring that they are unaffected by the earth’s magnetic field. They are inscribed with the instrument’s serial number and nominal pressure values relative to high- and low-pressure pistons. Therefore, in order to determine the final pressure, the appropriate nominal values, on each of the weight masses added to the piston, are combined. Weight masses can be safely and securely transported between worksites using the robust weight box with a self-locking mechanism. In addition to this, the supplied removable lid ensures that the tester is kept safe during transit. Its adjustable feet and mounted spirit level mean that it can be set up accurately in a variety of environments. Also adding to the Fluke P3214-XXX Water Hydraulic Deadweight Tester’s practicality is its test-station deign with O-rings and the inclusion of 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch NPT or BSP female adaptors, features which remove the need for PTFE tape and/or wrenches when attaching devices-under-investigation.
The Fluke P3214-XXX Water Hydraulic Deadweight Tester has been designed with practicality, versatility and ease-of-use in mind; however, it is also optimised for accuracy. To this end, it includes a piston and cylinder assembly with a floatation indicator that has been designed to provide durability and stability, as well as low thermal coefficients and distortion. The assembly has been manufactured to the highest standards and as such includes certified accuracies traceable to international standards laboratories, such as the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST).
Indeed the Fluke P3214-XXX Water Hydraulic Deadweight Tester is supplied with a traceable certificate of accuracy. It is also calibrated to standard gravity (980.665cm/s²) and has a standard accuracy of 0.015%.
However; this standard accuracy can be improved to 0.008% via calibrating the instrument and trimming the weight masses in accordance with the user’s local gravity, thereby accounting for this localised gravitational pull on the weight masses. PLEASE NOTE that unless specified the tester and masses will NOT be adjusted to local gravity and WILL be calibrated to standard gravity.
