After finding that vandals have tampered high-voltage equipment on railway lines, police in the Isle of Man are keen to warn of the dangers of both trains and interacting with dangerous electrical equipment.

A statement from the police reads:

“This is an unsafe environment in which to be congregating and we would advise these persons to stay off the railway tracks.

“Isle of Man Railways stress that the risk of injury and electrocution to these persons cannot be under-estimated.

The equipment tampered with controlled the barriers that close the road when a train is coming, leading to potentially dangerous accidents involving motorists and trains. The system also clearly warns pedestrians when a train is present, and warns them to stay away.

The police currently don’t know who damaged the equipment, but they’re adamant to cramp down on these kinds of incidents.

“Police will be patrolling the area and anyone found on or near the railway will be moved on.’ The statement reads. “Any persons found on or near the railway will be dealt with robustly.”
